View Full Version : My daughter's beautiful wurls and curls

I love my daughter's princess hair. I don't know whether she's a 2 or a 3 with her wurls and curls though. Could anyone clear it up for me? These are as close to hair-typing photos as she is willing to get. She shampooed, conditioned (rinse-out), put leave-in conditioner through her hair, and fingercombed it. She let it air dry.

The back is more wavy, like a 2, but the front ringlets are so coily/spiraly like a 3. The underside is also more coily/spiraly than the canopy. The back canopy can be encouraged into more of a coily/spiraly pattern with some scrunching.

I can't believe this girl used to hate her hair because it was "frizzy" when all along she had these beautiful curls and waves just waiting for some TLC.

Oh, my goodness. The color, the spirals! Sigh....

I know, right? It's a thudworthy combination. :thud: I don't know where she got her curls from. My hair is 1c. Her dad might have curls, but he has to keep it super short for the military, so I can't rightly tell if it would be curlier grown out a bit. Two of my other children have wavy hair, but no one else has CURLS like these.

Her hair looks a lot like mine texture-wise. I'd say 2C.

I just went and copied Fia's hair type for 2s and 3s to help me out here...

The wavy ones
2a - loose, stretched out S-waves throughout the hair
2b - shorter, more distinct S-waves (similar to waves from braiding damp hair)
2c - distinct S-waves and the odd spiral curl forming here and there

The curly ones
3a - big, loose spiral curls
3b - bouncy ringlets
3c - tight corkscrews

Her spirals aren't an odd spiral forming here or there. She has solid spirals at the front and under her canopy. The S-waves at the back are almost in spiral pattern. So I'm thinking 2c/3a The ringlets at the front seem 3b to me, but maybe I don't understand the typing descriptions well enough?

I think 2C/3A about covers it, although I agree that those spirals in the front might even be 3B. Any way you type it, her hair is indeed gorgeous.

Maybe I'll call it 2c/3b, lol! It is fine and soft as silk, too. Beautiful and lovely hair!

I don't have any real advice, just wow. Your daughter has fabulous hair! :)

Gorgeous, simply gorgeous.

I can't imagine what her hair would be like if she followed a strict CG routine.

Oh my goodness, your daughter's hair is stunning! Such beautiful color and curls. Is she growing it longer?

Very pretty! I'd say mostly 2c with some 3a. It could all change with a more curly routine, hard to say. As far as typing 3 curls, the best descriptor is spirals, with 3a being sidewalk chalk size (about 1" diameter), 3b being sharpie sized (1/2" diam.) and 3c being pencil sized (1/4"diam.), looking at the spirals in their true shape (coiled on a flat surface) rather than stretched out. One of these days I need to save up some of my sheds to show the difference, because I have some curls that are very obviously 3a and some that are much tighter 3b. The difference is clear when you can see them side by side, but 3b is quite a bit tighter. 3a tends to be more those loose ringlets.

Yes, she wants to grow it to her waist, brighteyes. I guess I need to hang out in the curly threads so I can pick up more how-to's for curly hair. Some of her spirals are as tight as 3b, as per your description, jeanniet, but only a few.

Thank you, everyone. I can't wait to show her these responses when she gets home from her friend's house.

Oh my, how wonderful for her that you appreciate her beautiful hair! I bet there are many wavies/wurlies/curlies who wish they'd had someone in their curly corner. Thanks for sharing the gorgeousness!

Her hair is very like mine! but her colour is much nicer.

Her waves look a lot like mine, and I describe my hair as 2b/2c--but I also don't have the ringlets. It is funny how we can have more than one hair type on one head.

The first thing I thought when I saw the pictures was "2c/3a" and I'll stick to that analysis. :agree: She's indeed lucky to have so much texture and waves in her hair. :')

I do love those pictures - what gorgeous hair. I'm so glad you've found a routine that works to bring them out so well now. :D

That is very pretty. I'd put her at 2c (as she has a few ringlets, which is the definition of 2c).

Oh, she does have beautiful hair! Maybe if she gets more interested/serious about growing her hair she could join the LHC!

I'd say 2C/3A, leaning towards the 2C end.
Either way, her hair is absolutely gorgeous and I'm so glad to hear she wants to grow it out! :)
