hair tinsel just showed up in my area, and while its not popular yet- im sure it will be. Its these tiny threads of shimmering tinsel but they're silk and tie in at the roots like extensions so they stay up to a few weeks. they also can withstand 400 degree heat *cringe* so it could be the new feather fad.
Its instant color that you dont have to damage or commit to. Its like the answer to my fickle dying moods.
Looks like per strand in a salon its like $4 for the silk ones o.0 but if you buy them online its $11 for 20-100 strands-but theyre plastic online and not the soft ones.

:magic:What kind of magic is this? where was this when i was a kid? and would you do it now?

Hair tinsel? I've always thought the tinsel on Christmas trees was a pain in the rear so would think hair tinsel to be the same after a while but I haven't tried it to tell and probably wouldn't.
If its something that appeals to you then go for it.

Hair tinsel? I have no idea what it is, so I have to go google. But it sounds like it could cause breakage at the attachment points in your hair. That's scary to me!

I'm going to start referring to my silver hairs as "hair tinsel" now. ;)

Ha! I remember a bunch of members getting them and posting their pictures in a thread from a few years ago. Is it the same as these Hair Flairs/Bling Strands/Hair Tinsel (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=23916&highlight=hair+tinsel)? It does look really pretty! It's too attention grabbing for me personally though unless I were cosplaying a mermaid or going to a New Year's Eve party. I'm boring though!

That thread had a lot of good tips though on how to tie them in and style them and stuff.

I would wonder how to get that back out of your hair once it's in.

Cute! I've always wanted grays because i've always thought of them as tinsel, but didn't have a word for it. :D

I did end up getting some for the Christmas parties and couldn't be more in love. They fulfill that color itch. and yeah, it does seem like I'm surrendering the 10 hairs it takes to tie them in, but they're gonna leave me eventually  and i have a lot of them- might as well go out with a sparkle! xD

Oh, that's kinda cool! Doesn't look like it'd be hard to do, either....

I had a beauty shop put in a bling strand they used a jewelry jump ring and inserted it close to the scalp. Mine lasted about six months. I loved it mine was pink.
