Thanks for the links, DragonAngel. Very, very informative and well presented. Personally, I think they are "must sees" if you want to understand your hair, and what does/does not affect it.

Thanks for sharing. I'm subbed to her channel. Lately: not much activity.

I stumbled across it and was like "wow" she really makes it easy to understand. I have little to do all day while I rest this broken ankle so I am doing tons of research into hair science and product, beats watching daytime television ;)

Videos are a three part series by YouTube user kimmaytube titled Structure of Hair, for those who don't want to or can't click.

Turns out it's a four part series.

As others have said, very informative. Already answered a question that I was going to ask at some point.

I was wondering about if Dr. Bronners would be good to use as poo (you can actually read all the ingredients), but it turns out that the pH is too high (Part 4).

Yes, it's pretty unfortunate that even the nicest, most "natural" soaps out there are not ideal for hair and skin, due to the pH and also the product build-up from the ingredients that keep the cleanser in that solid form. The soap scum is left behind on skin/hair, only somewhat counteracted by acidic rinses.

Based on this recently acquired knowledge I now feel more informed about what I am doing. Unfortunately I still have to dye my hair :couch: because I am grey and I refuse to have 'all natural' hair and look 20 years older.
My product choices now will be based on water soluble cones, products with PH's between 4-6 and oils such as extra virgin olive oil.

Here's (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4_LKGqydL8s) another of her videos. It's a quick over view of growth and maintenance.
