She's one of my favorite artists. I remember being a young girl in awe of her hair, and loving her music.
...Not much has changed. :)

Alanis Morisette reminds me of Junior High, which was one of the best times of my life! I love her hair and I love her music.

Wow, so gorgeous.
The fringe/bangs suit her too :)

Aww that makes me nostalgic. I used to love her music and it reminds me of old times when CDs have been ridiculously expensive and I had to save all my money for 3 months to afford a CD of her. Way back in Ž96 I think. Guess IŽll dig out some old CDs today :crush:
And yes, nice hair. Strange, but it never caught my eye before. I knew it was long, then short and got longer again  but somehow I did not really think of her as a long haired artist... lack of watching TV probably. Thanks for pointing that out. SheŽs definitely someone to mention, if anyone should suggests it being appropriate to wear short hair beyond 30.

Thanks for posting again mellie! I absolutely love Alanis Morissette. She is my music and hair idol... i'm borderline obsessive.:hmm:

Good to see her have longer hair again. After that short haircut a few years ago, I thought that was it.

Wow. How many years has it been since she cut it short? Must have been awhile, time surely does fly! Her hair is very pretty and I concur, I like the bangs on her. So shiny and smooth. I wonder what her routine is :)

It's funny, at first I didn't like the song...I thought, where's that Alanis fire! But by the next day, it was still in my ear, and had really grown on me...the fire is there, it's a very hot smolder - like lava! :-)

Wow, her hair is amazing! So shiny and sleek. Seeing her hair makes me consider cutting bangs again.
I love that song too, so sad yet hopeful. It brought a little tear to my eye!

I am soooooo glad to see she let her hair grow long again -- I couldn't believe she cut it all off a few years ago!!!
She's lookin' good.

I don't particularly care for her as an artist, but she does have great hair.

I could have sworn that her hair is naturally a 2c/3a/b ish and not straight like that. :)

Did you ever see that video where she got her hair cut in it? I twas about 5 years ago I think. I was almost screaming at the TV when I first saw it - but I didn't because I didn't want my friends thinking I was weird! :D
I'm glad her hair is back

The link you posted wouldn't play for me, I guess I have the wrong video-player for it or something. I did look up some pics online though . . .
I did see the ill-fated music video too, Neil. I felt it really cheapened the chop. Destroying something so beautiful so nonchallantly, and it really came out of nowhere.
Great to see her long locks again. They suit her so much better:D.
(P.S. This thread has gotten her "Head over Feet" song stuck in my head.)

Oh man, all I could think beyond "wow, I want that album" was "OMG, I MUST cut her fringe a 1/4 inch shorter!". It was driving me crazy, it's just a smidge too long for my tastes, way too far into her eyes with it at that heaviness. Thinner fringe and long is good, heavy fringe and shorter is good. WORST of both worlds.
*ahem* But the rest of her hair was beautiful!

I really think she looks gorgeous and I'm so glad she's back and with long hair. She's such a true longhair! :inlove:

Glad to see her hair longer again. Looks much straighter than before, I wonder if she flat irons. I love her with bangs too, they look great on her!
It makes me miss mine!

So... I checked out her site and recent pictures show (what appears to be) her actual hair to be about mid-lower back length and layered (no bangs). My guess is that she was wearing a wig on Letterman.
Although the wig looks lovely on her... please don't shoot the messenger. :scared:

Dave I am so glad you spoke up because I really didn't want to point out that all that hair wasn't hers. I have her new CD and the photo inside it shows her hair at what appears BSL, and it is layered with no bangs. It is very nice hair, but not the hair she is wearing on TV right now.

I never cared for her music except for the "You Oughta Know" and her hair looks too flat and limp for my tastes, I prefer women with big hair.
She used to be a dance pop star in the early 90's and went simply by Alanis, she rode the Alternative bandwagon like a sheep.

Ah, give her a break... I think a lot of people did stuff to get their foot in the door and make some money before they were able to do what they really wanted. Kind of like Y Can't Tori Read (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzTNhdO0elM&feature=related) (not that Alanis Morisette is in the same league as Tori Amos, but it's an example).

No, Alanis Morissette has always been a commercial artist. She even released a second Dance ballad driven album, Now Is the Time, but was dropped by her record label after the album sold poorly.
She changed her style in the 90's because the mainstream was no longer sympathetic to her 1st wave princess dance pop image, and that genre of music obviously has no underground market. The same goes with Tori Amos, both of them were just performing in a style that was popular for that time. The unmistakable honesty of their later occuring music was compatible in the 90's and they were able to connect with a larger audience.
All of the songs on Jagged Little Pill were either written or co-written by record producer Glen Ballard who encouraged her to fill her songs with sexual rage and false emotional honesty.
Most female artists usually have some type of marketing scheme behind their music, this is why the underground is more male dominated.

I'll be showing my age but I remember her from "You Can't Do That On Television" from late 1970's to the 1980's. It was a Canadian kids show with armature child actors. I loved the video of "You ah-ta Know" with her hair blowing in the wind. Glad to see she grew it in again.

Somebody's dissin' Alanis' long hair!!

We'll let her insanely long locks slide, but we can't forgive Alanis Morissette for putting a tacky tiger tattoo on her forearm.

I may be showing my sheeple mentality, but I don't care, I'll say it: I LOVE Alanis' work. :D
I dig her hair, too.

I'm almost sure that it's not a wig Dave because I watched Alanis live this summer and her hair was ~waist and she was headbangigng and dancing. My guess is that the pics are old:confused:

I also liked Alanis Morisette's long hair, and thought it looked great in this video (whether or not it's a wig). I really like when she lets it go all wavy and wild---it's a look I can imitate without torturing my hair!

Hmmm... I wonder if Alanis has ever stumbled across LHC before??? :hmm:
