Thanks for posting this, Selkie. What a coincidence! Just this morning I was considering throwing in the towel and chopping. After watching this video, NO WAY!

Cool! Glad it was inspirational for you. :)

I must say I especially liked the scene in the restaurant when she takes her hair out of it's updo and you see the astonished/gobsmacked looks on the faces of the other patrons!! ;) Wonderful!

How wonderful. Wow lovely hair. Though I wouldn't have let that girl pet my hair! She seemed like a very friendly woman. Beautiful video thank you.

I took a look at her site. The fact that she charges for good quality pictures is a little iffy to me.

Why?
It may not be for everybody, but I see nothing wrong with her decision. It is hers to make.

It is her commodity, she should do as she sees fit, I think.
If she can make some money, good for her. Do it while she can.

People do far worse things to earn a buck.

No it's just, we *all* know what kind of people would be willing to shell out money for pictures like that, right? I mean, let's not be naive. And I think that's just... well, who would be a willing participant to that? That's what I'm wondering about!

Her hair is beautiful! Thanks for posting. It was a cute video, but the jealousy comment annoyed me.

I made extra cash in college having someone take photos of me walking around in bare feet. I liked it quite a bit. When my hair was much longer I used to get presents from *those* sorts of guys- mostly hair toys I wouldn't have paid for myself. It was fun, an ego boost, and harmless. She's also a scientist with a solid job- but even if she wasn't, there's no harm in having fun with it.

Most people assume that everyone else's core thoughts and feelings on this subject matter match their own- I know I've been caught off guard a few times by people who think that sort of thing is exploitative or demeaning. I always felt empowered, I always had fun, I liked the ego gratification and the money was nice.

To each their own, but remember, there are plenty of people out there you might agree with on every other flavor or morality, who have very different views on that particular part of it. In my eyes, it's her body, the weird guys are going to be weird at her either way, and if she's having fun and making some extra hair toy money, more power to her.

Exactly that. The video was uploaded by someone who " loves" long hair, and has uploaded lots of long hair videos because of this " love of long hair ". Amazing hair she has, but her website sells subscriptions to videos where she slowly, slowly strokes her hair and we all of us can imagine who would take out a subscription. And she gets lots of publicity, so I imagine lots more subscriptions.

I am not comfortable with her subscriptions, and yes, it's her hair and she can do what she likes, but I think it's iffy too.

I suppose someone who realizes they have a commodity to sell and chooses to do so.
Good for her, more power to her, as MadPirateBippy said. There is a subset of people who are interested in her pictures and videos. She found a niche and went for it. She can do what she chooses and that is okay by me.

It's not like she is wronging anyone here. She didn't link that video to the board, so she is not breaking any TOS by selling anything on site. The video does not appear to violate any other TOS.
To get to her actual site is at least two clicks away, and then you would still need to be a member, I imagine, to log in. The link for it is even posted by yet a third person, or so it seems.

She can do whatever she wants with her own body. I'm not going to judge her. It's not really my business.

It's not really anyones place to judge her through this message board. I'd rather just comment that she has beautiful hair, as that is the focus here.

Who knows, perhaps she IS a board member, has adhered to the TOS for years, only to not be able to defend herself now? That would be particularly troublesome for me if it were true. :(

I see way more provocative stuff on the front page of yahoo most of the time, anyhow. Facebook, even. Either way, they are her pictures and can do with them as she sees fit, just like anyone else.

(To the OP, I liked the video and am glad you posted it, BTW. )

I agree there are worse ways to make money on line. I think it's neat that she sells pictures of her hair.

Great post- well articulated and honest. I don't think people should judge other people's actions unless they are hurting people.

I agree that she should do what she wants with her body! kudos to her for making money by selling pics of her hair. As for me, I tend to not like watching these types of videos because it feels pornographic to me in a way that I am not partial to.

Now I got caught up into watching the other videos from this channel...

I found this "transformation (http://youtu.be/QgvoLlaifS0?list=UU4HKxh1yVf1kvKuZFmDpJBQ)" from knee length hair to an A cut bob! They said the long hair made her look older.

She has beautiful hair indeed :)
I wonder if she keeps growing when it gets to floor length or decides to maintain at above floor somewhere... (I'm assuming she can go past floor if she chooses to from the way her hemline looks and how long her hair is)

That so sad that people convinced her she looked old because of the length of her hair! She looks the same age in both the before and after pictures, besides the makeup and clothes. I totally started tearing up at the sight of her crying because they were going to cut her hair :(

Wow, if she can grow it THAT long despite any damage from the blowdryer, then some of us should be able to also!

That video made me rage a little. They purposely dressed her so dowdily on stage and cut her hair into an (in my opinion) unflattering bob just to get the shock value for their show. I saw some other videos of women's hair being lopped off for a "makeover" and they were sobbing while it happened. So, so sad. I also get annoyed at the "friends" and family that pressure them into it by basically saying they're unattractive or unkempt. These shows make a one hit wonder profiting off years and years of hair growth, without any thought to the person who is being "beautified". I know there's a chance this lady was truly happy with her shorter hair, but judging from what I see in the video I still get chafed over it.
