HI Everyone! I wanted to update everyone on my hair journey since I see some people on here having the same struggles I am and changing my routine has really helped. I joined in April 2011, after I had black color stripped from my hair. I had to chop to shoulder. It was AWFUL!http://i1370.photobucket.com/albums/ag241/jlecuyer06/HairApril2011_zps5df75960.jpg After this mess, I wore it up for almost 3 years, in a bun, wet with tons of oils and products. Ignoring it allowed me to grow it out. However, as it got longer, I had tons of tangles, dry ends. It was a mess. Madora (thank you) suggested I simplify my routine. So now I wash 1-2 times per week, sulfate free shampoo or co-wash (I workout everyday so sometimes I need the lather), I use oil only once a week before I wash, and I brush everyday with a BB brush. I can now wear my hair down more, and I sleep with it braided. If you are like me and using a million products and oils and still having issues, I suggest simplifying things. I also think the brush has made my hair very shiny. I really love Jason Naturals aloe conditioner. It's all natural and leaves my hair really soft. Here are a few pics from recent weeks. My hair isn't perfect by any means but it's getting there and I love my new simplified routine. Off to hip I go!http://i1370.photobucket.com/albums/ag241/jlecuyer06/HairOctober2014_zps9891a01c.jpghttp://i1370.photobucket.com/albums/ag241/jlecuyer06/HairNov2014_zpsddd9228f.jpg

The simpler, the better. My motto as well.

You had awesome growth. Congrats. :D

Thank you! I agree, I normally have a "more is always better" mentality but that's simply not the case with hair products!

Your hair looks great! I definitely have a more is better type of strategy with my hair, but maybe I'll have to try making things a little simpler!

Totally agree. Hair likes simplicity. I guess that's why it's called benign neglect.

Your hair looks beautiful!

Makes sense, I feel like I am overloading my hair a bit with all my experiments, hopefully I will settle into a more basic routine by next year.

You are so right, I too have been making hair care way too complicated for myself lately. Thank you for your story and congrats for finding a better routine, you have beautiful hair!
