I'm looking for some new updo ideas and my favourite are braided updos so suggest some of your favourite pictures, tutorials or anything :)
the only braid I'm not a fan of is the rope braid as I'm not very good at that, but suggest anyway I'm willing to give it a try :D
Thank you :)

Lots of LaDollyVita33 (https://www.youtube.com/user/LaDollyVita33)'s tutorials involve multiple braids. :)

I LOVE intricate updos, too! Have you seen this website?:

And Janet Stephens on YouTube has some really intricate ancient Roman styles.

There are quite a few of my braided updos in my album.

Here's one that looks intricate but is easy to do because it is nothing but very simple braiding:

How to:

1 Detangle all hair gently. No part with this style! Comb back, away from face
2 Clip with barrette or ponytail holder at the nape (will be removed afterwards)
3 Divide hair into 12 sections. (You can clip each section if you find it easier to handle)
4 Loosely braid each of the 12 sections
5 Now divide the 12 sections into 3 sections containing 4 braids in each section
6 Remove the ponytail holder
7 Holding the braids as flat as you can in your hand (like this:////) begin to loosely braid the braids
8 Go slowly, braiding all the way to the end. Fasten off with hair friendly elastic
Voila: One multi braided braid.

Have you tried Arwen's Helm's Deep braid from The Lord of the Rings? Torrinpaige has a lovely tutorial for it. I do something slightly different because my hair is much finer than hers is, but hers might work for you as you seem to have thicker hair than I do. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ucrj8EtzWE0 Here's her method. Mine is similar. I take my hair and divide it in two upper and lower halves. I then divide the lower half into 4 and braid until the end tying off with a small clear elastic. Then I divide the upper section into 3 and french braid all of them to the ends again tying off with a small elastic. I then braid all of this mess together into a 7 stranded braid which I tie off with a small clear elastic. Then I take out all of the unnecessary small elastics from the ends of the braids. I hope that's clear!

Have you checked out http://www.dreamweaverbraiding.com/ ?

I'm pretty braid challenged and that website is enough to keep me busy for years, lol.

My pleasure, LongCurlyTress. It looks complicated but really, all it requires is that you know how to do a simple 3 strand braid.
Step #7 can be a little tricky because you've got all these braids that are trying to lay flat next to one another, but it is simply how they lay in your open hand that makes the difference...and braiding the braids loosely (never tightly).

Bottom line: the end "look" is supposed to be like a beaver tail (if that helps!)

Beautiful braid :)
I don't think my hair is long enough to make it work but it's worth a try :)

Oh I love that braid!
I tried it many months ago and never did it since
My hair is too short though so once I've braided it in all the little braids I fishtail so the braid doesn't get too short.

love GoT hair :)
(yet hardly ever try any of them...)
I tried Catelyn Tulley's bun braid updo thing and it didn't work out well, I did the two joined up rope braids too low and the tucked french braid bun then didn't work, so it ended up being the two rope braids joining into a french braid

I love Danaerys' braided half-ups and Margaery's twists! Catelyn's twist-over-braid hairstyle is also pretty awesome.

Unfortunately, Sansa's hairstyles are too subtle for black hair, so they're out for me.

I guess you could consider some things in my album/blog intricate-ish? Well, not the stuff done on myself as I'm hopeless there.

Thanks for the link to the Russian site, Merlin! I loved the 4 strand combo braid that was rolled up to the nape. The hairdresser really knew how to braid and bring out the braid pattern by "fluffing" out the braid edge, ever so slightly (pancaking it, I think they call it). The model had really lovely hair!

But if you like them why not do them anyway?

Thank you for all the links, I'm a bit bored of my hair at the moment, it doesn't seem like it's getting any longer so I'm stuck wanting to cut it shorter then I've had it before (that I can remember anyway) and growing to goal, which I'm not sure what that is any more, it was just past waist and now I want hip... guess when it looks long to me I'll be happy
