Hi everyone,

So I've been loitering around here for around 2 years now. Thought I'd post a bit of "hairstory" (geddit!) and progress updates:

Pre major hair disaster circa 2009 to 2012:

My hair was certainly not in great condition but I liked the length and colour and it looked OK with a bit of styling.

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z379/AdrianLovesRocky/DSC04113.jpg (http://s1186.photobucket.com/user/AdrianLovesRocky/media/DSC04113.jpg.html)

MAJOR DISASTER ERA circa 2012/2013:

For some reason I decided that I wanted to lighten the dark red and it worked out OK at first.

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z379/AdrianLovesRocky/105.jpg (http://s1186.photobucket.com/user/AdrianLovesRocky/media/105.jpg.html)

But then I lost my mind for some reason and decided I wanted to go blonde. Rather than sensibly take it in stages, I went from the shade above to this in 2 weeks.

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z379/AdrianLovesRocky/496.jpg (http://s1186.photobucket.com/user/AdrianLovesRocky/media/496.jpg.html)
http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z379/AdrianLovesRocky/092.jpg (http://s1186.photobucket.com/user/AdrianLovesRocky/media/092.jpg.html)

Needless to say, my hair quickly took on the texture of chewing gum when wet and, when I blow dried, the air would be filled with little wisps of hair that was breaking off. An utter disaster.

LHC Discovery and beyond circa 2013 to present:

As my hair had started falling out of it's own accord in sheer protest at my stupidity, I desperately searched the internet for solutions. I discovered LHC while researching henna as I wanted to get back to red without the damaging chemicals. I hennaed over the bleach but it was still in appalling condition so I took the plunge and had the chop. It was pretty devastating.

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z379/AdrianLovesRocky/Hair1.jpg (http://s1186.photobucket.com/user/AdrianLovesRocky/media/Hair1.jpg.html)

But I peservered with the henna and, eventually, my hair started to forgive me and start to grow and get healthier.

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z379/AdrianLovesRocky/032.jpg (http://s1186.photobucket.com/user/AdrianLovesRocky/media/032.jpg.html)
http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z379/AdrianLovesRocky/010.jpg (http://s1186.photobucket.com/user/AdrianLovesRocky/media/010.jpg.html)
http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z379/AdrianLovesRocky/001.jpg (http://s1186.photobucket.com/user/AdrianLovesRocky/media/001.jpg.html)

Im now in a position where it's nice and healthy (save for an inch or so of bleach damage on the ends) but layers remain from the severe chop I had to have so I'm about to get it chopped into a bob at the shortest length.

I hope, from here, I can grow a nice even length and put those days of hair horror behind me!

This forum has given me so much advice and inspiration - thank you all so much!

Laura

Congrats on your progress! I went through almost the same thing as you...dark red to blonde to crispy lol I chose to grow out the blonde and not go back to red/henna. At least not just yet haha. The red is lovely on you! Happy growing! :toast:

Your current henna colour looks fantastic on you, and I don't think you need to chop at all! Your hair is looking healthy in my opinion :)
Red really suits you!

Interesting to see your hair journey so far. All those different shades of red. It´s so eye catching. And your hair looks great now, both the color and health of it. Congratulations and good luck on your proceeding journey! :blossom:

What a journey you've had! I'm sorry you experienced all that, but it looks like you've learned a lot through it. Well done for persevering and for listening to your hair! I can imagine you'll be so pleased to get rid of the last of the bleach damage and to move on with hair that hasn't experienced that! Looking forwards to seeing where your journey will take you now. :)

Thanks for sharing. :)

OMG your hair is sooo gorgeous now!! The shine, the color, the waves!! I know it's none of my business, but PLEASE don't ever be mean to it again! I'll cry if such beauty is defaced. It's your hair, and I'd just have to get over it.:p Thanks for all the pictures, and I love your sense of humor about your journey.;)

I can relate to dye disasters (chemical burn & cut in the past from switching back and forth between chemical & henna). I do have to say your hair looks *very* shiny in the last picture! :D Happy growing.

Oh thanks everyone! I shall certainly persevere with the healthy hair upkeep. No more chemical dyes - never, ever!! I don't have a real goal length yet but I know I'd love waist. My fair has never been longer than APL. Xxxx

To be honest with you, I think that all these colors ( including the terrible bleach) fit you great, but then your skin is super fair, and with a face like yours no wonder all colors look good. BUT< the damage is damage, and if you love your hair, you need to protect it.
So congrations on your progress, your hair so so shinny it's unreal, I am wondering if henna is what gives such a glossy appearance to hair, or what is it? Amazing!

I have been through some disasters myself and your hair looks gorgeous now. I would try micro trimming from here and just let grow! Good job getting health back. I know the journey!

Oh, beautiful! Love the present color. And apart from the hair, all the lipstick colors are so good on you. Why can't I ever find colors to suit me as well, hmmm.....

Oh I'm blushing! I'm not sure why my hair is so shiny in that last pic. The pic was part of a set of photos to define my hair type. It was just washed/conditioned and left to air dry for the typing pic and that's after I brushed it. Must be the henna I guess?
