Hi all! I'm wondering if there are any anti-frizz treatments out there that will eliminate frizz for a time. I would try the Brazilian keratin treatment thing, but that has a loosening effect on curls and I'd rather keep mine!
Any ideas? Btw my mom's a hairdresser so I have access to lots of discounted salon products.

I've tried Lush Jasmine and Henna Fluff Ease and got pretty good result ( I'm not a curly though, but I have a constant battle against frizz nontheless). The smell is very strong though, and it contains sulfates, but the frizz went away and stayed away for a couple of washes :)

Try checking out the Curly Girl method.
I'd stay well away from the Brazilian Keratin treatments. They tend to have a brief, temporary smoothing effect followed by completely wrecked hair (due to the combination of high heat and damaging chemicals that include formaldehyde) that cannot be fixed and has to be grown out.

^ I did CG for about two years, but I recently started adding silicones and gentle detergents (like CAPB) because I live in a hard water area, because I thought that my hair might be shiner with cones. Not sure how I feel about them now.

And I just went to a LUSH store for the first time last weekend! I didn't buy anything because I'm a broke college student, but everything seemed really cool!

I do a combination of oil and gel to control my frizz, my hair is very fine and has been described as attack hair.
Anyway, wet hair, condition, rinse, a little almond oil, then gell.

Try the LOC method! Here is the thread for it. (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=118167) It's basically what Kina above me described.

Mineral oil (just 2 drops applied to your palms) is great for combatting flyaways and frizzies! Very lightweight and washes out in your next shampoo..and is dead cheap. A bottle will last for years!

^ Hm I just picked up some virgin coconut oil last night - will that work?

Mine's not curly, but there's a recipe in this thread for Kimberlily's defrizz spray (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=277) that works really well for me to tame frizz and flyaways (it's a "treat the symptom" approach, not a cure).

yes, it should, just a bit on your hands, melt it by rubbing your hands together, you should have just enough that it makes your hands shiny, then run your hands over your hair, from the ears down.

What works pretty good for me is when I wash my hair, put lots of conditioner and comb or finger comb it through until your hair is tangle-free, then rinse. Don't touch your hair at all or as little as possible, don't manipulate it any until it completely dries. This works best for me and minimizes frizz.

CostaRita, your hair is so pretty! I did keratin treatments for many years. It ruined my hair. You have to accept that w/ curls frizz is inevitable. There is a huge difference in how my hair frizzes now compared to last year b/c of healthy hair practices. You'll have to experiment w/ products & be patient. I agree w/ Chocowalnut, do the best you can to keep your hands away from your hair when it's drying. Good luck!
