I hope it's okay to make this post!
I've been trying to figure out my hair type, and I'm guessing it's either 1b or 1c.
I mostly just have one question: I have shorter layers around my face, and even if I try to leave them alone and not tuck them behind my ears etc. while they dry, they always turn our much wavier than the rest of my hair. Does this "count" when determining your hair's curliness or lack thereof, or should i only consider how my hair looks from the back?
For reference, here are some quick pictures of my hair from the back and the front after washing:

Taking it all into account, I'd say 1b/1c.

Cool, thanks! So does that mean most people take everything into account?

I think most people go by what the majority of their head is. I get curlicues at my nape, but I don't tend to count them because the rest of my hair doesn't do that. That said, I think a lot of what's happening with your near-face bits is because they're shorter. Less weight makes them bendier. I get the same thing -- my hair has more wave to it when it's short.

1b/1c sounds pretty accurate for what I see in your pics.

I'd also say borderline 1b/1c or maybe a 1c. However, did you follow the instructions for hairtyping (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=116252)? In particular, did you make sure to not manipulate your hair in any way after washing, especially not brush, comb or fingercomb it?

From the back I would think 1c but slightly brushed out, so it looks a little more 1b since it was brushed out.

I didn't brush my hair (I rarely do to be honest), but I did detangle a bit with my fingers. I guess I should try just leaving it alone completely next time - will keep you updated, haha.
