This style of Kim Kardashian's is sooo elegant (FYI, she is the one in the middle):

hmm - the band-aid on her toe really adds to the effect :D

The heads of hair that she's sandwiched between (bleach + dark roots??? Not my favorite look.) definitely adds to the distinction of already nice hair.

Hmm. One of these gals has shine to her hair, and the overprocessed two do not. Hmm.

I have no idea who she is, but that hair style is lovely on her.

Tapioca, that is an interesting observation, but I have to tell you that I dye (process) my hair and I still have quite a shine, even in fairly dim light.

I get the feeling this must be the modern engineering equivalent to the 80's wall o bangs!

I thought she looked very nice the first night. I just saw a little bit of it and I don't really watch the show. She had a nice vintage style going.

0:47 of that video is hilarious. I couldn't stop laughing after he did that...

Anyway, I love Kim K. I think she's really beautiful.

Kim K. wore a wig the first night. And for a woman with such a famous booty, she cannot shake it at all. The music they danced to was "I like big butts"...shame she can't move it....I'm a straight woman and even I was disappointed.

No, no, no. I said "over"processed. Too much of a good thing and all that.

KK's hair is really lovely, I am a big fan of the shade.

She was not very good in DWTS. But as much as it pains me, they need to keep her and bump Cloris. Cloris is funny but not a dancer. Sorry it's not a DWTS thread but couldn't resist :D

I did like her vintage hair - definitely worth a google!

Eh. "Elegant" isn't exactly the word that comes to mind when I think of Kim Kardashian.

Truer words haven't been written! I could not and still can not believe that she can't shake what her mama gave her! ;)

Hahaha! Yeah, *a lot* of other (really un-nice) terms come to mind for that one, elegant is NOT one of them!

Returning the original post, some questions.
How would one do that low-side ponytail look with really fine hair, and is there any way to get that kind of subtle height without teasing? I have a formal event coming up and this is EXACTLY the kind of hairdo I was thinking of, but I'm absolutely opposed to teasing. It's just not worth it to look pretty ONCE but have damage and broken hairs FOREVER.

Ideas?

Subtle height without teasing, hmmm, perhaps use a really small hair rat? This link (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tz_oJf3sG6A)was posted earlier in another thread considering ponytails, it's a video how you can do to get some extra boost to your ponytail.

They really do. Even though I kind of hate them, I am mesmorized by their hair. And.. they are realy pretty too. But also, obnoxious (one step up from Paris Hilton, though).

That youtube link was very helpful for me, thanks for posting that.

In relation to her appearances on DWTS, due to Misty May-Treanor's injury it looks like Kim Kardashian may get a second chance to prove herself on the show. Check out this article that contains much further details.

In case anyone is wondering she if she is or isn't plastic; here (http://www.newsday.com/entertainment/news/celebrity/ny-etkim1008,0,3616351.story) is an article with her response.

I think it's a nice style and looks good on her. I think a combed out rollerset could give the height effect without teasing and then just put it into the side ponytail.
