Do you have a favorite style from a particular movie?

Yentl was on last night and, though not one of my favorites I always LOVE Hadass' hair in every scene, even when they grew her up and did the updo into the 'wifey' thing.

I always really liked Princess Leia's hair in The Return of The Jedi, the part where she gets captured by the Ewoks. As far as long hair stles go, you can't go wrong with some of the styles in The Last Samurai.

I LOVE hair in movies. I want to start a 'Coveted Movie Hair' screenshot thread, but I think it'd break a lot of copyright laws :(

My favourites are:
-the AMAZING flaming locks of the plum girl and Laura in Perfume
-most of the hair in Sleepy Hollow but especially Christina Ricci's!
-period drama hair. Atonement, Moulin Rouge, etc
-secret dreadlock lust at Tia Dalma's amazing Pirates hair, heh

I've only really noticed movie hair since hanging around these boards; before there would be a fleeting acknowledgement, 'oh that's kind of pretty', but now I'm all PAUSE! REWIND! HAIR!
Makes me an annoying person to watch films with!

All the elf characters in LOTR (though I think I'd be better aspiring to be a hobbit with my curl hair, short stature and love of eating!)

I also loved Berenice Bejo's and Laura Fraser's hair in a Knight's Tale (and to a lesser extent Shannyn Sossamon's - though her selection of bizarre hats was distracting).

ETA: And of course, Julia Roberts curls in Pretty Woman

Carmen. I love the film and the flamenco - and the wonderful hairstyles not only of Laura del Sol but all the dancers. You see them making braids and putting their hair up. Some beautiful, feminine styles in that film.

Anne of Green Gables. And it's associated sequels.

I second the Princess Bride vote, too.

And, while it is kind of off the wall, there is a scene from Practical Magic where Sandra Bullock has this beautiful pin straight hip length hair that I envy so.

Pratical Magic! Sandra Bullock's hair was long, but Nicole Kidman's was the best I have ever seen her look.... but for the curls she sported in the early 90s. I always did love the red hair, as a blond she looks rather washed out.

I always liked Leia's Nordic crown braid in Empire.

Long and wavy like Arwen's in LOTR is sooooooo pretty.

Ooooooooooohhhhhhhh, and Jane's hair (Rosemund Pike) in the Keira Knightley Pride and Prejudice. All of her styles are both practical and romantic. And she's just beautiful; almost makes me wish I was blond.

Watching Gary Oldman in Dracula is heavy porn for me. His looks combined with the explosive passion he puts on screen makes my world turn upside down. I can't watch it with my Bf anymore.

EDIT: Also the accent. *Drools, melts, and remains a puddle long after*

Her look in that movie was really my first long hair inspiration, and it's still one of my favourites - such a fabulous film.

The styles I tend to idolize aren't really long hair, or even necessarily healthy -- think "Eternal Sunshine" or "Run Lola Run"! I absolutely adore short and punky, dreads, shaved, whacky colours, etc.

Most of my long hair inspiration comes from characters I've created or have never seen (only read about). Didn't really realize that until now...kind of strange.

Emmanuelle Beart's waist length wavy hair in "Manon of the Spring." I'm fairly sure she had extensions in it, but it's gorgeous and the epitome of the fairytale look, complete with a ribbon and face framing layers! When she gets married at the end they cut it to shoulder, LOL.

I'll add my vote for The Princess Bride, LOTR and Pirates...so much awesome hair!

Mists of Avalon.

Oh, I love that movie! And the hair! So gorgeous!

I loved Padme (forgive me, I know I just butchered her name) from Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Padme hair do's - not when she was Queen Amidala though - but when she was a Senator and was sent with Sky Walker's father to her home town - lovely dresses too!

Definitely LOTR. Anyone with Eowyn-love? I like it down, and pulled up on the sides, and especially the updo during Theodred's burial. I really want to figure that one out. I also love Arwen's riding "braids" - such a fun look. I did it myself at college, tying off the braids with thread, and people knew it was Elvish even when I was in blue jeans.

The Little Mermaid was a childhood love, big time! Also Pocahontas - I didn't like the movie, but I loved her hair.

Dorothy Lamour is a vintage favorite. I haven't seen her hair down in any of her later pictures, but I've seen some stills from earlier ones. It was so long and thick! Gorgeous!

I loved Helena Bonham Carter's hair in Howards End when it's down and wild. I too have to vote for Practical Magic because the older aunts also have long hair and it has been such a debate and discussions here at LHC on the boards on whether or not to cut as one ages. I've always voted anyone at any age can have long hair if they choose.

LOTR - all the characters have the most stunning hair.
TOMB RAIDER - I could watch these over and over again JUST because of Angelina Jolie's hair, not because the movies themselves.
TWILIGHT - Characters Bella & Victoria (especially Victoria) have hair to die for.
PHANTOM OF THE OPERA - Emmy Rossum :thud:
Not a movie but still, FELICITY - Keri Russel's long & curly hair was amazing.
MAMMA MIA! - Amanda Seyfried's hair made my jaw drop (and Meryl Streep has quite fab hair too!)
Not a movie either, but Portia de Rossi's hair in ALLY MCBEAL is notorious and truly out of this world.

I just had a flashback to my very first hairspiration in a movie. It was in Room with a View and only on screen for a few seconds. It was the Italian girl with the waist length blonde waves, half of it back in pin curls. I need to find that tape.

So it's not really a movie, but last night I was watching "Celtic Woman - A New Journey" on PBS and one of the girls had hair that was at least hip/tailbone. I couldn't tell exactly how long because she kept swinging it around (swinging!!).

I asked my DBF if he liked her hair that length, and he said "I like the length but it would look better on you because your hair is beautiful and looks better than hers." :o :cloud9:

I think I'll keep him ;)

I love the music from Yentl!! Michel LeGrand composed it and it is glorious!! Very emotional. Beautiful!! Barbra Streisand actually did do the movie in honor of her father. She was not that close to her mother I understand. Anyway, my favorite long-hair movie: One immediately comes to mind back from decades ago - "Gidget Goes Hawaiian". I was a teen at the time and was awed by Gidget's very long flowing smooth red ponytail that had such movement as she was always flicking it around. They had used a different actress to play Gidget in that movie so instead of a blonde, this time she was a redhead (like me). From that moment on I wanted to have long hair. However, my mom thought I should stay in an above-the-shoulder pageboy which was popular then. In college I managed to grow my locks down to midback - thinking that was really super long. Later on when I got married, I cut back to above-shoulder again. Only now, as my hair is in the pre-grey stage, am I trying to grow it as long as it will go. So far it is mid-thigh. Unfortunately, older people's hair is not the same quality as younger folks' hair. I wish I could turn back the clock and have it the length it is now with the quality it used to have. Well, I am just thrilled that it is the length it is. There's no going back. Using Louise Marie Longhairs products has helped somewhat. So that's my long answer to your short question!! Gidget Goes Hawaiian!!

After watching Passion of the Christ, I really would love to have Mary's long dark all same length hair.
Her hair is beautiful in that movie.

The girl I'm talking about is in the middle. What would that be? Looks like it's almost at classic.

The girl in the middle is Chloe Agnew.

My favorite hair related films:

Kingdom of Heaven (Sibylla's hair, is gorgeous here (http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg121/Alexander_I/sibylla5.jpg))

Mists of Avalon.

Yes! There's a scene in there where Gwnhwyfar (I think that's how Guenevere is spelled in the books) has my dream hair!

Sadly, the movie took out all the feminist ideology from the book, which is one of the reasons I loved it.

I don't care that they changed several plot points. Whether a film adaptation is faithful to the text or not is such a boring way to compare the two works - clearly they have to be different, they are different media!

The ideological shift did make me sad, though. Thankfully there was pretty hair to make me feel a little better.

I don't know if anybody's posted this yet because I'm on a slo-o-ooow computer, but 'Jamaica Inn' with Jane Seymour is pretty good ..although I spent the whole movie watching it and wondering how she could go wandering the moors with unrestrained hip-length hair and not end up with a mass of tangles. Hey, thanks for jogging my memory! ~ One of the girls in the Turbo Jam workout videos (the ones from around 2005 or -06) has some awesome long hair. Holly, I think it is? It's probably about waist-length then and she would keep it in either pigtail braids or updos that looked all complicated. :D

Memoirs of a Geisha was amazing! I second that...or third or fourth that...however many times people have mentioned it. :-P A lot of the actresses in the TV show The Tudors have really gorgeous long hair, too, even though I don't think all it is really theirs.

Probably the LOTR trilogy... Though last night I was watching the Tin Man miniseries that ran on SciFi, and lemme tell ya, some nice hair on that.

Hands down, "Somewhere in Time" Elise McKenna (played by a young Jane Seymour) has the most romantic elegant hair. It was my long hair inspiration years ago.;)

Two movies...
Olivia Ormond in The First Knight
and the woman that played Marion in Robin Hood: Prince of Theives (the one with Kevin Costner)
I love that ultra thick, long medieval look with the sides twisted back...so jealous! :)

All of these have already been mentioned. I agree with:

Harry Potter
The Last Samurai
Curse of the Golden Flower
The Perfume
Practical Magic

The hair I have liked most in a movie is Azumi's in Azumi. She has a long ponytail with the most top (how do say it) layer, and the bangs cut just shorter than shoulder length. Ergh.. how do I explain it so you understand? Long ponytail and shorter bob combined? Damnit... Anyway, I loved that style since I saw the movie for the first time. Unfortunately it wouldn't look good with my hair. Need thick, straight hair... If this link works:

Her ponytail is obviously hanging down on her back...

All other movie hair I like is also straight black/dark asian hair...

I just saw the 2007 movie "Stardust" (Fantasty/Adventure/Romance) and couldn't help but admire Michelle Pfeiffer's style of long, wavy hair.

Note: Unfortunately, in the movie she goes back and forth between nice hair and "bad" hair ...

Last of the Mohicans, in particular Cora's half loose hairstyle she wears towards the end of the movie when she's captured by Magua. It's nothing special, but the wave is just perfect to me- it has that whole messy but not look, if that makes sense.

I watched Lesbian Vampire Killers last night, and the hairstyles of the lesbian vampires were pretty cute! I'll have to see if I can get some pictures.

Edit: This is a pretty special movie, and the lesbian vampires (with the exception of like, three) just kind of writhe around and make grabby motions and hiss at the camera. While they're doing that, I captured a couple interesting hairstyles (the ones that weren't teased to within an inch of their life):

So it's not really a movie, but last night I was watching "Celtic Woman - A New Journey" on PBS and one of the girls had hair that was at least hip/tailbone. I couldn't tell exactly how long because she kept swinging it around (swinging!!).

I asked my DBF if he liked her hair that length, and he said "I like the length but it would look better on you because your hair is beautiful and looks better than hers." :o :cloud9:

I think I'll keep him ;)

http://blog.mlive.com/flintjournal/entertainment/2008/04/large_Celtic_Woman.jpg

The girl I'm talking about is in the middle. What would that be? Looks like it's almost at classic.

Picture from: http://blog.mlive.com/flintjournal/entertainment/2008/04/large_Celtic_Woman.jpg
I have to say I love their hair too, the one in the middle is young (maybe 19 in that photo?) so she has that youth hair thing going for her. The one on the right, the fiddle player, has stunning hair too, and has had it for many years. I don't know how she can play the way she does while skipping and dancing across the stage all while flipping her hair about! And she never gets it caught in the fiddle or bow!!! Hubby and I have seen them 3 times now in concert, if you can manage to go it is worth it totally.

My movie faves for hair...Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Memoirs of a Geisha, Princess Bride, LOTR (I still swoon over Legolas lol), both Elizabeth movies with Cate Blanchette (so many styles in those that I watch it for hair and get caught up in them bigtime, and lose track of the plot lol).

Television faves are The Tudors (especially the ones from this latest season with Jane, gorgeous blonde locks on her), andThe Robin Hood series (British TV series).

Practical Magic and Ever After. Those two movies are what made me want to grow out my hair in the first place.

I just saw Confessions of Shopaholic again and I realized that her hair in that movie is gorgeous! And it's a great point that long hair can be fashionable. Isla Fischer's hair is also pretty amazing in Wedding Crashers, as of course is Jane Seymour's!

I have to agree with nearly everyone else: Star Wars, The Princess Bride, and The Lord of the Rings all had fantastically beautiful hair.

Some others:
-While it's not a favourite "hair movie", I loved Evey's curly hair (before the buzz cut) in 'V for Vendetta'.
-In the TV series 'Firefly' I loved the hair that River and Inara had (I didn't like River's hair in 'Serenity')

Any of the women from the Mists of Avalon or the lead woman in Dances with Wolves (Stands with Fist).

I just finished watching Dances With Wolves for about the 10th time. I just love that movie, needless to say. I think Wind In His Hair has the most beautiful hair in that movie! It was waist length & thick & healthy looking.

Kimberly J. Brown in Rose Red (2002) had nice hair. Even though it was worn down all the time and I would think it was too short on me, it was nice to see some long hair in the movie. (Even if it was only on a 'little girl' and not the adult, grown-up women. ).

Even though you can't see it in this picture, her hair was about between BSL and waist length.

The original Star Wars trilogy all of Leia's styles are practical an can be done without extra hair pieces unlike most of Padme's in the new trilogy. And I love LotR, the Dune movie and miniseries has some good styles.
