So I've been growing out my hair for about two years now, and I've made a lot of progress. Just a quick background on my hair: I'm about a 1a-b and a ii in thickness, although my hair is just barely that. It's 2.1 inches last I checked so it is definitely pretty thin. I really need a trim since my hair is fragile and damages easily, and nowadays hair places charge the same for trims and haircuts, and I've been considering bangs for a while now. I think it works with my face, and the reason I've grown them out is laziness and having trouble styling them. I'm getting really bored of my hair since it has nothing interesting about it. So here is a picture of me and how my hair is now:

Kinda messy but ya know. Just was hoping maybe you guys could post some pictures of haircuts you think would go well with my hair type and face shape, etc. Thank you! ^_^

If you want to look at face shape you're better off starting with a picture of yourself face on with your hair pulled back to get a better idea of it. Plenty of sites also offer free 'digital makeovers' they don't look terribly realistic but should give you a better idea of what you look like with a fringe. Or you can buy cheap clip in fringes from places like Amazon and try that out, take a picture with and without the fringe to see what you think about it.

Thank you but I was really hoping to get some feedback from real people just to see what other people thought. I like seeing different people's opinions.

First off, your eyelashes are gorgeous (how are they so long!) :)
You look like you have an oval shaped face (like myself) and we have a lot of freedom with styles, or so I've seen it suggested when I've read about this kind of thing before. I don't suggest major haircuts to people when they're bored as its something I've regret in the past - I got bangs once on a whim and just recently I've grown them out completely... 2 years ugh! When I get bored with hair, I remind myself I'm trying to grow to terminal and think of new styles I can do - different updos, buns, half ups, part your hair in a different way etc.
Just be really sure it's what you want, but I think bangs (sideswept or straight across) would look great on you :) - you just have to be committed to styling it and the upkeep, or you don't mind eventually dealing with the awkward growing them out phase.

No hair cut. That's my :twocents: Your hair may be boring to you but your face draws attention away from it because you're so pretty. You could just leave it be, let your bangs grow out (I don't think you'd like it if you cut them), oil it alot and enjoy the fact that you can't have everything be perfectly gorgeous!! lol, just kidding. But hey, you look wonderful. As my Dad used to say, "leave 'well enough' alone"! I suck at advice, don't I? I'm predjuice for long hair. And cutting never makes it longer, only shorter.

I vote no bangs. It will subtract from the volume, and you don't have a lot to spare.

I vote no bangs, just plain blunt cut. In other words, leave it be. Why do you want to cut it all of a sudden?

You and your hair are gorgeous. I vote leave it alone. Small trim if needed but its beautiful as is:)

Yeah. no bangs. You're face is way too pretty to cover up with hair.

I had to chuckle reading your post because I knew all the responses would be telling you not to cut. A lot of members have gone through years of frustration growing out layers and bangs, and your hair looks quite lovely as is, so it's not too surprising.
It's hard to advise you to get a haircut when you say you've made lots of progress growing your hair. I really think you should do whatever will make you happiest! If you're excited about growing your hair longer but just bored with it being the same everyday, your first line of defense might be to start learning different styles. There are tons of resources here for buns, and I also like to use youtube videos for some less-protective things like variations on braided half-ups.
I have almost exactly the same thickness as you and have realized, as SpiderMom said, that cutting bangs isn't worth it because it just takes more away from the overall thickness. They would look great on you but you'd have to deal with losing the thickness, and the longer your hair is the more obvious it becomes. This means that if you do keep growing your hair, at some point you will almost certainly want to be rid of them, but then it will take multiple years to grow them out. The same is true for layers--they will give you a fresh new look, but they require maintenance, and take away from thickness at your ends.
I completely relate to being frustrated paying so much for a hair dresser to trim 1/2" from my ends. I solved this by looking into Faye's method for self-trimming, which I find works really well. My recommendation for the first try is to start with 1/4", make sure it is even, and then take off more if you desire, in small bits. You don't want to cut an inch, realize it's uneven, and lose three times that trying to even it up. Another strategy some people use is to go to a men's barber, who I think will generally charge less for a simple trim.
I think you have the facial structure to pull off anything from pixie to bob to long hair. If you really want a change and are excited about the idea of shorter hair, you should go for it. It's not permanent, and hair does grow back! But if you think you might miss your long locks, maybe spend some time thinking about new ways to wear them before going straight to the scissors :)
Also, I disagree that your hair has "nothing interesting about it". Your color is gorgeous!

I don't want to sound weird but you are so beautiful! I think you should have a long side fringe. You're similar to me and I have one. Its just long enough so that it can be put up incase I don't want it. As for length though, definately do not cut! :)

I think your hair, as it is now, works for your face. I think it accentuates your face and looks soft and lovely.
Personally, I would only trim what was needed and leave your hair as is. :) It's gorgeous.

I really appreciate your guys' feedback! I guess I was just jumping to rash decisions because I wanted change. But I agree I will most likely regret it if I cut it, so I'm just going to get a trim to get it nice and healthy and continue growing it out and not getting bangs. Thanks again. :3
