I have apl hair. I washed my hair with shampoo that contained sulfates yesterday, rinsed my hair with warm water, and then I added a protein treatment afterwards. I don't use cones and I have virgin hair. Afterwards, I wrapped my hair in a microfiber towel overnight and air dried it in the morning.
The photos are after I detangled and combed my hair with a wide tooth comb.
I added a photo of the nape of my neck because there's a slight waviness there but I don't know if it's because of the towel that I left on my hair overnight or if it's my natural wave.
I think my hair is 1b but I'm not sure if that is correct. Perhaps it's 1b/1c or even 1c.
Opinions please?
Also why is the hair from my ear up stick straight, but the bottom of my hair tends to be wavier?
My hair used to be 1a, very shiny, and coarse when I was a child, but now my hair is finer, wavier, and has less shine.

Also, would you consider my hair to F/M type or something else?

Looks like it could be 2a..maybe 2b. A wavy for sure. As for the difference in hair behavior, that's just how it is on some heads. Just take it into consideration when you detangle and you'll be fine. Nice hair!

Is the third photo in your signature your natural hair that is 1c? If so, why is my hair wavier than yours?

It kind of looks like my hair, and I'm a 1a/1b, M, iii.
*edit*...of course, it's always possible that I have mistyped my own hair....hmmmmmmm....

To me, the big difference between 1c and 2a is that the overall impression of 1c hair is that it's straight, while the overall impression of 2a hair is that it's wavy. I think I'd call yours 2a.

I looked on the thread called "Visual Hairtyping Guide" and most of my hair seems 2a but a few sections are 2b.
Should I change my hair type on my profile to 2a or 2a/2b?
Also do you think my hair is fine or fine and medium. I have all 3 hairtypes in my hair.

Looks like 2a to me, but to know for sure, can we have a full length shot without the interesting angles?

I always assumed I had straight hair all my life as well until today.

Hahahaha...that is how it was with me, too. I always thought my hair was straight and that it would not behave when it got frizzy. Having wavy hair is really the best of both worlds. You can wear it straight and it can also hold a curl :)

Here is a full length shot. Sorry that the color is a bit strange.

2a, looks wavy to me. If your overall impression of your hair is that it's straight, you *might* be a 1c/2a, but it looks decidedly in the 2s to me.
ETA: I might err on the side of 1c/2a judging from your regular length shot. Does your hair get straighter as you get further from washing? Mine is pretty darn wavy right after washing but relaxes pretty quickly.

I kept thinking that if I combed my hair more or brushed it more it will magically turn straight again.
How does wavy hair become straight without heat?

When I want to wear my hair straight after washing, I simply let it almost dry, but while it's still damp, bun it and let it dry that way. Once dry, it will still have body to it, but it won't have that pronounced "s" pattern to it. If I want to encourage the wave, then I gel lightly, and apply a bit of oil after I wash and scrunch it and then let it dry without touching it. I find cones kill my waves so I gave those up a while back. Wavy hair is very cooperative once you figure out exactly what it likes.
I do agree with the others that when I first wash it, it's at its waviest and as time goes on, it gets lazier :)

Looks like a cross of 1c/2a.
DweamGoiL, what type of bun do you damp bun with?

Just a regular LWB or sometimes a cinnabun, but nothing too tight or the hair then tends to curl instead of the intended effect.

I wouldn't call it a full 2a, but not a full 1c as well. So 1c/2a.

I might've misunderstood, but did you sleep on your hair before you took the hair typing pictures? Also, did you comb your hair after it was dry already, or did you detangle and comb when it was wet/in the shower? Combing changes the hair type, especially for us with lazier waves. I hop between 2a and 1b depending on how much I've brushed/combed my hair.

I think 1c as well. Maybe 1c/2a, but particularly the length shot looks like a clear 1 to me.

It currently looks about 1c to me, but if you slept on it after washing, then your pics won't be accurate for hair-typing, as Wosie said. If I sleep on my curls, they look way different than after they are washed and air-dried. You need to wash again, condition if you like, then let the hair dry with no combing and no turbaning. :)

Yes, I slept with my hair in a microfiber towel. I woke up 8 hours later and took the towel off my hair. When it was detangled with my fingers, then I combed my hair with a wide tooth comb.

I just put henna in my hair yesterday, so I think I will wash again on Wednesday to let the color sink in. I'm doing a henna-indigo two step process :)
I suppose I can let my hair air dry. Last time I did that, it took me 8 hours to dry indoors.
Is it possible for me to use an electronic fan to blow my hair dry?
Or even walk outside for a few minutes to dry my hair faster?
I think I will make a new thread on Wednesday, since I'm not sure how to edit my first post to include updates pictures...

I might try that idea, but I don't know if gel is easy to wash it. Any time I bun or braid, my hair gets even wavier.
