Hello, does anyone know where to find a list of good protective hairstyles (for European hair, or any type of hair)?

Anything that contains the hair can be considered protective, so just about any list of hairstyles will have a lot of protective ones on it. Try this: http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=112682&p=2608650&viewfull=1#post2608650

You didn't mention how long your hair was. If you need inspiration, see Torrin Paige's You Tube tutorials.

The short answer is that buns are about the most protective, specifically buns that have the ends tucked in and aren't being held together with an elastic that's rubbing on those ends. Most of us find that spin pins, U-shaped hair pins, hair sticks and forks, clips like Ficcares, and claws that have nice smooth tines are comfortable and effective.

Braids are pretty good too, but they need some babysitting if they're hanging loose, so that they don't get rubbed on chairs, caught under straps, chewed on by goats, etc. Securing them can be a bit hard on ends for some folks, though.

Ponytails and loose are generally not considered protective around here.
