Please hair type me... If it's even possible with these pictures!

I found out a few days ago you could post photos of your hair and be hair typed by other members, and have been looking forward to doing this since as I never trust myself! Too bad my hair is straighter and thinner than I thought. I'm really sorry about the quality of the photos, I'm not sure why they turned out so grainy and if they're even possible to use. My hair was washed last night, air dried and slept on.

Looks to me like it's about 1b, possibly 1c.

I'm having a hard time seeing, but from the pics I'd say 1b or thereabouts? But you say that you slept on it. I think you'd get a more accurate assessment if you didn't, since wave can be pulled out from some hair types during sleep. :)

It does look quite similar. But I don't know why you would dread 1a! I can't even tell you how many years I dreamed of having that hair type! :D

I tend to agree with lapushka you're probably in the 1b, maybe 1c. :) It's a little hard to be certain which one from those pics.

We always want what we can't have haha! I feel like thin, fine, straight hair doesn't look the best generally, I don't like my hair very much.

Can I have people tell me whether my hair is fine or medium on here, perhaps with photos of the individual strands? I don't know if it's fine or medium, I'm thinking fine but it isn't translucent when held up against light but then again it's also pretty dark in colour!

That's pretty hard to say, not just with those pics, but really in general. Strand thickness is hard to see, and pretty relative in the absence of a comparative model. Maybe I'm not any good at it yet, but I can't tell with any hair pic, except an up-close with SUPER coarse hair.

I picked my own strand thickness just based on knowing my hair. I'd say I'm about 30% baby fine, 40% fine, 30% medium. I'm also 50% 2c, 20% 3a, and 30% 2a/b. :D

Fine hair isn't necessarily translucent. Even my finest hairs -- so fine they're hard to see -- are still brunette if I lay them on something white enough. They will still have melanin, which is what gives them their color. Now, my WHITE hairs, those are translucent -- and thicker, for some reason. :p

Most of us have a mix of stuff on our heads, and picking the one that fits you best overall is pretty individual, especially when it comes to strand thickness since it's so hard to get a picture of. The over-all texture is really the only thing that's easy-ish to see in a picture, and even there you'll get varying answers.

The only measurement that's totally straight-forward is overall thickness. Ponytail, measure around, done!

I think strand thickness would be really hard to tell from photos. It's more a matter of feeling it... how does your hair compare to other people you know? For instance, I know one of my sisters has fine hair (think baby hair), and my best friend's hair is coarse (think horse tail. OK, maybe not that coarse :lol:). This is evident from the way it feels and behaves. Mine is neither fine nor coarse, therefore it's medium. :)

Thank you so much for your responses everyone! My hair is somewhere between 1B & 1C, with fine & medium strands and a normal/ii volume of hair (2 3/4 inches circumference). I've wanted to know this ever since I discovered LHC so really, thank you for all of your responses as they've helped lots! I will try and get a better picture of my hair… when I figure out how to take better pictures, whenever that may happen to be! :p:)
