I could use some short hair sticks for my daughter. Any ideas on where I can find them? I could use some for some of my hairdos too.

How short are we talking? I use 5 1/2 inch ones, and I've seen them for sale on Etsy as short as 4 inches.

Where at? I am thinking 3" or 4".

I have 3 1/2" Mei Fa's on the swap board for sale. Black with silver tops.

I suggest Mei Fa by Shaune Bazner - many come in two lengths.

You can always buy 4in. double-pointed knitting needles. They come in sets of 4-6, so they're generally cheaper than sticks you can get on Etsy, and if you don't knit, it doesn't matter if you lose one or two. And they come in wood, acrylic, and metal, so you have color options.

I recently started using one of my extra aluminium needles as a hairstick and it's way more comfortable IMO than a the other "real" hairsticks I have.

^ this. Knitting needles should not snag yarn, so it shouldn't snag your hair either. And they come in various, shorter lengths.

I always found hairsticks to be too long. I use size 11 6" DPNs.

I use chopsticks that I cut and sanded to the size I wanted them.

This. I have very fine hair and the standards sticks are too long. So I just make them myself!
You can also paint wooden chopsticks to any colour you want - that's how I use up my nailpolish.

I'd recommend MorgansMane at etsy for you. Not pricey at all, easy to ask for customs...

I'm another double point knitting needle user at the moment.
The ones I'm using at the moment are very very pretty bit too short at 4" for my hair and too thin but they work well enough.
