I have been dreaming and planning what hair toys I should get this fall. I am drawn to pinks, reds and purple woods. I was hoping to find some other auburns out there who have played around and have an idea of what looks good. I would love to see pics too!

This is my hair in sunny but overcast lighting. I think it is lighter inside and of course the sun highlights the red a bit more.

Haha. Did not know this posted. I switched to looking for the auburn thread and asking there. I guess since it is up I had better edit the first post!

This is a purpleheart claw that is very comfortable. Let me know if you are interested in it for this fall, it's for sale!

Turquoise looks absolutely stunning in brown... so greenish turquoise should be comlimentary color to your red/brown hair, thats what my color wheel tells me lol xD

Very pretty! If I see some examples of purpleheart in auburn hair, I might have to talk to you about it!

Yen - I love turquoise! Maple Burl has some turquoise sticks I have wanted to try! It is not a normal color I see in woods, so I am excited about it.

Greens, golds, teals, creams look at an 'autumn' colorwheel, most of of it should work. Warm rather than cool colors. I'm thinking oak and maple and teak.

I like mahogany a lot next to mine. The glow is incredible.

Desert ironwood looks lovely in your hair! I will have to add it to my list to try!

If choosing based on warm vs cool colors, sounds like purpleheart might be out then. I am not a fan of yellowish woods like oak and teak. I have seen a few maple I have liked though.

Eta- I don't think I have run a across many (any?) mahogany. I will have to keep an eye open, Anje.

Not sure if our color is similar enough (changes so much depending on the light for photos). But you can see a bunch of different woods in my hair in the "Wear All Your Toys Once" thread. This link should take you to my posts. (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/search.php?searchid=872391) I love my silvers, so while the standard advice is to wear gold tones, I think silver looks better in my hair. Your millage may vary.

I just went through the last couple hundred pages of that thread this past week! I did not notice how similar our hair was until you mentioned it. Mainly because I took my picture in the sun light for the first time in a looooong while and was amazed at how dark it was both in direct sun and overcast. I have noticed morning sun makes it a bit lighter in the photo, but still pretty close. I think I finally see my hair as it's actually color and not lighter. Odd since I love darker hair.

I am so glad to see padauk looks so good in your hair. I can't wait to see what others look good, Neko_kawii! I will have to re explore more this evening.

I don't know a lot about hair sticks, but I've had auburn/red hair my entire life.

Red is a risky color to pair with auburn/red hair, because it frequently clashes. You may be able to get away with a burnt red or deep maroon color, though.

Basically, the rule for cool colors is to go deep. Deep blues, purples, and greens look fantastic with auburn/red hair. So do gold colors.

Lighter greens and blues can look good, but it's harder to find a nice shade of light purple to go with auburn/red hair.

I haven't had any luck with pinks, oranges, and yellows. Silver generally isn't as complimentary as gold, but still looks pretty.
