I couldn't find much on this, I apologize if there's something like this thread other than the actual Low Porosity Thread, which I wasn't really getting much of an answer from.

Since heat helps low porosity hair absorb moisture better, I would like to know of some non-damaging heat techniques that I could use.

I have heard of using the steam from the shower and using a hair dryer on shower capped, oil treated hair, but I'm still a bit afraid to use the hair fryer

Does anyone have some suggestions?

Some people use steamers... I think you can get similar effect from shower steam. And if you put a plastic cap on top of your head + hot towel, it's similar to a heat-cap.

You don't need too much heat to help conditioner/masque penetrate. If you trap the heat from your scalp, it should be good enough.
35 C and 20-30 minutes should be enough to get great effect: http://www.thenaturalhavenbloom.com/2012/10/deep-conditioning-effect-of-time-and.html

^ thank you! :) I think I will try getting a shower cap and trapping my scalp heat first.

I use a cap dryer with a shower cap under it. This is the one I use. I also have a hard hat, but don't like to have to sit under it, I can lie down with this one.

I haven't tried a steamer because the dryer works fine.
