She jumped up there on her own when we were looking away. Silly kitty. (And WOW my hair grew a lot in the past year! It's TBL now. Though in need of 5 inches of splits hacked off. Oh well.)

And our ritualistic evening cuddle session a couple months ago. I get grumped at if I've been gone too long during the day, and almost as soon as I plop onto the couch, she hops up into my lap for loves.

And yep, Miss Tali-Cat is a purebred Maine Coon! Smaller than the average 'Coon, but still definitely bigger than your typical housecat! Aaaand she's currently curled up in my lap, delightedly distracting me on my work-from-home day. ;)

He truly was the most wonderful cat ever. He was a Japanese bobtail And I had to always keep him inside because of his allergies. He talked to me, slept with me, and he was my best friend. He understood me and comforted me when I was sad. I held him like a baby and he would purr sooo loud!

Totally off topic, but those glasses are absolutely the best ever! I am not home now, but i willl post a picture later, my feline companioms oddly show up in almost every hair photo i make. Often in front of the bun or style I hope to capture.

From left to right, these are my babies: Cobweb (black cat), Oberon (Maine Coon mix) and Noelle (Calico).
Cobweb and Oberon are so cute together, they're little besties/boyfriends who are always snuggling. Noelle is the princess; she's really affectionate and cuddly with people but not so much the other cats.
Between the three of them, my longhaired hsband and myself, we're all in a competition to see who can shed the most, lol.

Off topic a bit: Thanks YGDW and fidrildi for your nice comments on my specs. Honestly, all I was interested in at the time was 1) the prescription was right 2) the glasses weren't heavy 3) the frames were lightweight and a decent color. Wasn't "fashion conscious" atall. Still not fashion conscious, though I was marvelling at all the frames now available at the occulist! Goodness, such a selection...and what prices!!!!

My cats don't seem much interested in my hair, but when I put it down in the house and they want to cuddle they get confused because they think it's a solid part of my body on which they can rub their faces, and always lose balance :D

Snowflake is a little bit crazy...she loves when I am on the floor and will dig in my hair and head butt me. I have to watch out or she gets a little too enthusiastic and will bite or claw. Ah, cats. :)

Oh so THIS is Friskie! What a sweetie pie. It's a '60's pic for sure and yet it could pass for today's style. Isn't it funny how styles rotate? And there's the reddish glow in your hair. It's a lovely pic.

I put my hair over the back of my recliner, but if my hair gets too long I'll have to vacuum back there first! I'm afraid to look at what's behind there....probably empty yogurt containers that the dogs lick clean, cat toys, old rawhides, kibbles, popcorn....dust, spiders, hair pins...

I finally got a phone photo of my hair and my cat, it's blurry though, sorry but my teething baby thought that the phone is tasty, and i didn't notice the lens was dirty until after the photo.

I admit I baited her into this for the photo, but she chases my hair all of the time. I'll be sitting at the kitchen table with it braided and suddenly feel a tug and hear a thump as she jumps for it. She also really, really loves watching me braid or unbraid. My baby is growing up! I say my baby because I had put on the previous page when I found it. Two weeks abandoned and sick kitten. I even laughed it and now she does not understand that we are two different species.

I know this is an old thread, but I couldn't find the "Show me your cats" thread.

So anyway, here's Noodle - he is a feral kitten we have managed to tame somewhat. He spent last night inside on our sofa, he preferred that to being out in the snow for some reason :p and he's still there, apart from having a couple of meals and a toilet break. He loves being patted, and chin rubs and purrs up a storm. He doesn't like being picked up though, and wriggles and squirms. What's the best way to get him to like cuddles? Just keep doing it? And plenty of attention? At least he doesn't bite or scratch...He used the litter box too... We think he's about five months old.As I type he has gone back to sleep in his corner of the sofa and it is snowing again outside. :)

Also, Sarahlabyrinth, as my family's go-to kitten mom/trainer (I've trained two in my rather short life, so I am most definetly an expert) (sarcasm) I can tell you that the best way to get them to like cuddles is to encourage it (especially with kitty treats) when it happens, but not to force it too much, so don't make him to stay in your lap or hold him against his will if you can.

But just remember, owners have very little of an effect on their cat's personalities in the end. Cats are very strong willed and independent. I'd for sure get a toy, and just do lots of petting, brushing, and sitting next-to, so he warms up. Also: If you want him to know his own name, say it while he is eating and to call him over for food.

Good luck, and post as many cute pictures as possible! He's already a beauty.

Sarahlabyrinth I would suggest a very tempting treat to lure lil kitty into allowing you to pick them up. I would set the treat(chicken, tuna something very alluring and irresistible) a few feet away from the kitty in question and then just gently lift them maybe even starting with the back feet still touching the ground and move them close to said treat. If they seem comfortable try again and move treat farther each time. But make it so kitty always gets a reward and ends the handling experience with a positive.

Thank you for the good advice! :) It's appreciated. I have been petting him a lot, and he loves it. He has started jumping up onto my lap for cuddles and smooches, and last night he decided to sit on my shoulder for a while :) I put him on the floor yesterday and he jumped right back up again. I found some ribbon which he loves, and will get him a ping pong ball and a catnip mouse. At the moment he attacks my shoe, and the cushion on the sofa. He mostly uses the litter box but sometimes will pee/poop elsewhere, this morning he peed on a towel we put on the floor for him next to the radiator. I don't tell him off, or shout, but I wish I knew why he is doing it. Sometimes when he is on my lap he will nibble on my hand. He did bite quite hard, once, so I tapped his nose and said "No" and he didn't do it again.

I do :heartbeat and he really was. I could go on and on about how he acted more like a little dog than a cat lol! He came to greet me when I got home, he followed me around and wanted to be held. I would have him on my arms and do household chores or something at the same time while he purred away. We would take naps together, him curled up against my stomach. His first home was with a family that had about 10 cats so apparently he didn't get much attention. He also learned to fight for food and eat quickly because if he didn't gorge his food quick, it would be gone. Our older cat would always take his time to eat. He'd eat a bit and then take a break to stroll around, look out the window etc. Meanwhile this one quickly munched rest of the food... he never learned out of that habit. He did eventually learn some independency from our older cat though.
