Shears

OK, dumb question... I picked up some shears, but they're really uncomfortable. The thumb hole has a curve to it. Is it supposed to curve to where it cups the first thumb knuckle, or is it supposed to curve as if to cup the bottom of the fingernail? I'm concerned maybe the lady gave me left handed shears.

Can't answer your question whether you were sold left handed shears or not but I found Sakishears thinning shear set - I cut my hair myself and they are great. From my web search so far they seem to be one of the professionals’ favorites. See what you think.
