Feel great about your hair!

Hi All!
So recently I've been seeing posts on facebook about a feel beautiful challenge. I thought this idea might translate well the the LHC! ;) So this is my challenge to all of you out there. Find a picture in which you find that your hair looks the best. A photo of your hair that made you feel really great about yourself. If you don't have pics, don't worry, describe a situation or the way your hair looked when you felt the best about it! Be kind to yourself, spread positivity! Ready. Set. Go!

A truly epic hairday, my first hair treatment at the George Michael salon in NYC, May 1, 1982. There are no words to describe how fantastic my hair was! Soft, shiny and so gosh darn perfect! I was floored...and amazed because my hair is definitely NOT that straight!!! That was achieved via very large curlers! Amazing!!

Wow, your hair looks fabulous. :cloud9: A sidenote, I wish my hair was less coarse, so that the fly away hairs around my head looked pretty and angel-like, like yours, instead of thread'y and wiry, like mine. *^_^*

Anyhoodles! Time to get positive. :disco: I have a picture of my hair that looks amazing. I really love it and I tried to use it as my avatar, but I couldn't get it to work as I had to crop out a lot of surrounding parts. I am wearing a bra in the picture, and I don't like to show much of my bare skin. *shy* Either way, I can describe what it looks like. It looks golden firey, reddish, filled with volume and waves (I just took it down from a bun) and very smooth and... alive. :) My bf took the picture when I wanted precise measurements for all the LHC landmarks, so there's a measure band over my head and hair.

I like this idea for a thread!

A few weeks ago when I went to a yard sale with my kid brother. As I was walking my hair touching my waist band. It was straight, clean, had it's spa day at home treatments. I oiled and conditioned it even it was shiny soft and crowing glory.

This is mine the perfect hair day! I don't think my hair cooperated as good as on this day ever before or after. Braiding was a simple joy, each of the braids smothly found its place. I got millions of compliments on my hair then and I felt beautiful! The photo taken about 10 hours after the hairdo was done!

I got millions of compliments on my hair then and I felt beautiful! The photo takes about 10 hours after the hairdo was done!

I don't have a pic of it, but I can describe it!

I've been changing my wash routine lately. It's generally going uphill, but some days I add or subtract something and the result changes (which is why today is not a fantastic hair day!).

It was the day I discovered I have mermaid hair.

Very slowly, over the course of the last year or two as I've moved away from traditional mainstream hair care, my waves have come out more and more.

When I was doing the standard shampoo and conditioner every day with brushing thing, I had very loose waves. Maybe 2a/2b, but always disorganized and frizzy.

I've gotten rid of all those things. I've got my washing figured out (soap nuts, and trying various additives), but not my conditioning quite yet, and I've dropped daily brushing in favor of every-2-days finger combing or wide-tooth combing.

And my hair is coiling up like nobody's business.

I looked in the mirror one day when my hair had mostly dried, and realized that I didn't have super loose waves anymore. I had mermaid hair that was on the borderline of curly. Still mostly S-shaped with a curl here or there, but much tighter and ripplier. All these wurls just dying to come out of the woodwork and make themselves known! My frizziness is going down and my hair is getting ridiculously shiny.

I had never seen them in my life. I had no idea they were there.

All these product commercials meant to fight your texture tell us that we can wake up with different hair if only we'd use them.

As it turns out, abandoning all of that, not fighting my hair, and just trying to do what makes it happy has, in fact, landed me with different hair than I thought I had for the past 25 years.

I'd say for me, it'd have to be my wedding day, right at 2 years ago. (WOW time flies!) DH was really amazed by my hair. The hairdresser asked multiple times if I was sure I didn't just want a nice updo, instead of wearing it down. I got my hair done at 8 or 9am, and the ceremony wasn't until 6pm. She was worried all the curls would fall out. But in the end, she did just what I asked for, and it looked fantastic all day!

Thanks, ladies! And yep, that's how we roll. ;)

ETA: all the weaponry is ours, & was taken down from our dining room wall for that day. I was happy I had enough blades for everyone, but a little bummed I didn't have enough swords. Had to fill in with a couple of daggers. That just means we need to get more swords, right?
