Ola!
When I signed up in '11 I had damage and layers and was juuust growing out mah bob. My layers were happily flopping around and being cool and curling upwards when it was short. So, with that in mind and with the visual hairtype guide I classified myself as a 1c-2a.

....buuuut my hair is really really much more straight now, now the layers are gone and the damage is....less. I rarely see it airdried because I always dampbun, but I did let it dripdry tonight (which sucks) so can you all help me hairtype? My hair is now very straight but can be coerced in a wave when it's moisty weather. Also my babyhairs curl. I dunno if that is relevant information though.
Anyway, pics:

Lookit the wavies close to mah face!

Aaaaand combed:

As you can see, there's not much difference in straightness from before and after combing. Except there's less tangles.

Anyone? I was thinking 1b, because it't not stick straight. At least it's like that now, now the length is killing the slight wave it had when it was shorter.

Lemme know! :)

I'd say 1b as well.

Love your cat by the way! :o

Your ends still seem to want to wave. I would say 1b/1c ? btw, I think your hair look stunning ! Makes me want to go red... maybe I should and maybe I would at some point ;)

We're in the same boat, lol. I classify myself as 1c/2a, with iii thick, medium to coarse hair. After our last meetup, though, I find myself questioning ever bit but the iii. Folks at the meet kept commenting on how straight my hair was (still don't think it is terribly straight) and how fine it felt. My sister's hair is REALLY fine, so that was my basis for comparison, but I guess my self selected type is off? I hope you find your answers here.

PrincessBob: Hifive for confusion :hifive: I'm all over the place with how I could type my hair, too. Especially the waves: darn things come and go, aren't fixed, never stay the same! So confusing.

And, also, I wish I was 2c. But that's neeeeever gonna happen.....

I'd say 1a, possibly 1b.

1a? Oh sadness!:violin:

Well, at least I am sure of the lenght:

I am at solid fingertip :bounce:

and yes I need to redo my roots. Tomorrow. Ish.

You're so funny. Yes, I'm thinking it might possibly be 1b. I'm not sure, though, because in the first picture it looks very straight.

I personally would leave it as 1c for now. There's hints of S waves in a couple spots, and my hair will cheerfully do that level of straight most of the time. Maximum wave miiiiiiiiiight pass as 2a on me, but it's pretty rare for me to convince my hair to show visible wave to anyone but a hair geek. That level of straight on my hair wouldn't mean the waves had gone away. It'd just mean my hair was being particularly limp (and well, I'm a 1ish/f/ii... limp happens. a lot.), or maaaaaaybe that the cut or styling method was working particularly well to pull out waves.

Everyone's type has some degree of variation. If you poke your head into the type 4 thread, you'll see that some posters can almost have a different hair type lock by lock. And some of those individual locks will vary in apparent type from day to day. The goal is to get the overall type as a reasonable enough average :)

Yup. And it seems that wavy hair is weird in such way, that it can look straight the other day and wavy on the other. This is why I still sometimes feel like a cheater as only by combing my hair I will kill my waves and basically go straight hair ;)

LOL fingertip! Could even pass for floor length...

I would say you're 1b now. And I feel the need to add; so shiny, and such a pretty shade of red! :D

1a/1b maybe? You have beautiful straight hair though, I would love to have your hair!

I'm not sure but it looks pretty straight! I am so jealous, I have major straight hair envy ;-)

I'm going to say 1c. While most of it's straight, you've clearly got some flippy ends and hints of wave, which to me, are the definition of 1c.

I'm seconding SK, also think it's a 1b/c! Beautiful color and very healthy hair, that's what matters. I stopped caring too much about the system. Each head of hair is so different 11 texture categories will never be enough. Double that and it still won't be enough.:shrug:

I think your hair is 1b. I'd kill to have your hair...texture, color, everything! I love it.

:couch: ...Thanks for all the hairpliments, sweethearts..! In reality I have about 50% of my hairs split or white dotted, and it breaks really easily because it's so fine....You just don't see the damage very well because henna made it glossy. But it's super to hear you all think it looks nice! :crush: :couch: I think I'll settle on 1b-1c for now. Thanks for all the typing! :flower:
