Dear Aspen Song, please stop liking so much cool stuff.
i found https://www.etsy.com/shop/Feyritail?ref=af_circ_favshop&atr_uid=14352705
And ordered a Zero stick at 16 to 17 cm (7 inches, roughly) in a Dymondwood. Yeah, me.
earth and sky, with second choice of desert sunset.
so I have to share the enabling love.

Update.
The payment was accepted several days ago, but today I get a message that she just got the forwarded order email from Etsy.
Does she think money appears from fairies?
But she did get in touch.
I want to believe in new artisans, but the run of flaking I've gotten is making me want to stay with tried and true.

It's here.
The style is similar to a princess eve TT.
High shine.
Pointy end.
Pretty, and lightweight (my first dymondwood stick of substance. I've had ketylos)
Held a cinnabun all through my shift.
Seems it's the first in the USA.

Bump!
How did I only just notice this vendor?! I was poking around Etsy and had my eye drawn to these sticks I had never heard of. A search here brought me this thread. Any recent takers or notes from the German boardfriends? It sounds like she has more options than what she lists on Etsy from looking at her blog. I'm not such a fan of the bright dymondwood, but Sunny Sunshine's sticks have me drooling! They remind me of the older TTs, which I really loved.
Sunny Sunshine
December 2nd, 2014, 11:09 AM
Hey Chromis,
yes she has more option than lists on shop. You find some on her blog: http://www.feyritail.com/
there you can see some differents woods (dymondwood and natural wood), acryl and topper she has!
Fey had a shop in dawanda, too. it´s the german etsy^^ here you will find some hairsticks she has sold: http://de.dawanda.com/shop/Fey-ri?sold_products=true
there you see some different types of her hairsticks! i hope that will help you to find you perfect stick!

December 2nd, 2014, 12:11 PM
Thank you so much! My German is bad still* and I couldn't figure out how to find the sold items there so this is a great help. I've sent her a message to ask what kind of woods she has available, so perhaps I shall be adding to my collection while I swap shop. I really like the shape of the Zero and the Lilly!
* I can speak very basic tourist German and most of my other words are food or animal related...umm and some fibre words! Clearly I should add hair words to my priorities!

These are gorgeous, I also particularly like the Zero model, as it reminds me somewhat of the minimal shape of my most coveted sticks Beetnik505.
Can I just say though..Hairstaab is KIlLING me!! Hair stab...it's perfect!

chromis no problem. it doesnt matter. yes only with these words its very hard to negotiate with fey. hehe :D My english is not so good, too! but you dont worry, i think fey is speaking english!
i like the zero hairsticks too!! but i dont have one! but one or two are on my wishlist.

Yes! Haarstab is such a great word even if it is one of those false friends. (I took Spanish in school, which has some hilarious ones)
I feel guilty sometimes as an Anglophone for only knowing one and a half languages (my Spanish is not nearly as fluent as your English, mostly I can understand what is said better than speaking myself). I suppose she would have a good laugh if I tried to ask in German though without cheating!
Ich möchte ein haarstaben. Welche Tannenbaum haben Sie? (I would like a hairstick. What ummm...Christmas trees do you have?) Hmmmm knowing how animal names go smooshed together, I am guessing that tree alone is baum!
And while I am being seeing, a handy chart for those who also want to know a bunch of animal names in German: http://twentytwowords.com/figure-out-german-animal-names-with-this-handy-flowchart/

Sad she doesn't do engraved designs anymore due to health. Maybe we need to take up a collection to get her a laser.

December 2nd, 2014, 02:57 PM
Oh such a pity!
I did ask her about putting purple bands on a padouk Lilly, but it will be just as nice without too. I nearly asked about yet another cocobolo stick and realized the two TT's I wear the most are the same wood. I think a more subtle wood will be nice too, if I want something to blend in and be nicely elegant.

December 2nd, 2014, 03:01 PM
Does she do the bands still?

Ouff, I really did not need to see those sold items.. (at first I thought they were available since the prices were there)

Chromis
December 3rd, 2014, 06:58 AM
She can't do the crushed stone inlays anymore, but she can do toppers and bands with acrylic or different woods and she has a lot of types to choose from. I am excited by her suggestions so far!
Majorane
December 3rd, 2014, 01:47 PM
There will be pictures in the future, will there, Chomis? Because she does holly, too. And holly and color burls is sort of like whipped cream AND chipolata cake ALL IN ONE hairtoy wise.
Can she also do small simple figures for inlay? If not then still no problem, there's always sunsticks. Them Germans, dey be crafty folk....
Chromis
December 3rd, 2014, 02:06 PM
She doesn't do any inlays now alas, but tell me more of these Sunsticks (bump the thread?)
Pictures...yes I can take those! And maybe even remember to post them! She is working on my customs now, hopefully I did well on the choosing for the not-mine stick! (Anyone post stalking from the other thread has got to be laughing their socks off!)

There's nothing to bump yet. There were two Sunsticks on swap a while back and seeing those I could finally "place" an anonymous stick I bought off swaps once from a German member. --> Not relevant, click here-> http://de.dawanda.com/shop/Sun-Stick?sold_products=true
Lovely shape, at least mine has. I like the multicolor band inlay. Might have seen a snowflake, even.

Fish stick! Fish stick! I want a fish stick!!!! Also, that might be a use of glitter that I can really get behind. Lucky for me she is not taking orders until after the new year starts because there is much to tempt me. I might beg German friends to be a shipping fairy since she doesn't ship outside of Germany. Then again, I already am plotting my next Feyritail sticks if these are as nice as they look, so I might stick to easier sticks and hope more Sunsticks show up randomly on the swap board.

What, sunsticks doesn't send ouside Germany? Well isn't that just the saddest thing :( We'll have to figure something out.

WSL posted a picture of the one I had made for her in the big swap thread, but I am naughty and have not taken one of my own yet. The finish is super smooth, although the silver band on WSL's was very slightly crooked and marred which I was less than pleased over. I would happily get more plain sticks from her though! Great communication and she crafted them quite quickly.

The black from your stick, Dreamy Fluffy One, is that painted or is it ebony? If it is painted, how well is it done? From the picture it looks EXTREMELY smooth and un-blemished laquered, is it like that in real life too? Not that it would be bad if it was, but seeing the prices these sticks go for, I am a bit surprised at how shiny they look. (<--meant in a good way) Besides I am just curious. And also, when you two asked for flavours of wood, was there any mention of holly....?

It is ebony :) The stick is incredibly well finished. If you look closely there are a few nicks here and there from how it was made, but they really aren't noticeable and I feel it just gives it that touch that it is handmade. It is in no way rough, and in fact, I need really tight grippy buns so it doesn't slip out. :p
This is her website - with the woods she has:
http://www.feyritail.com/natuumlrliche-houmllzer.html
In the Haarstabe > Holz section. She also does dymondwood and acrylic, and she has examples of the topper shapes and colours she can make. :)
By direct translation, Ahorn is maple and Weißbuche which looks like holly is translated as "hornbeam" by Google translate and to me looks like white book, so it might be holly. It's white anyway ;)

Wow two_wheels - that's awesome!
I'll also super glad to hear you love the stick ^_^
Do you find yours slip out? I find mine is sometimes a bit slippy, but my hair is quite slippery - so I don't know whether a bigger body curve would work for me (although mine is quite curved), or whether to get a sleeker one.
That said, I know I will definitely get another custom from her. Perhaps a slightly shorter one (I *love* my long one because you can see it, but it is quite pointy at both ends and I'm scared of removing someone's eye :p)

The plain wenge was an afterthought because I don't have any wenge but always wanted something made from it. Sabine wasn't sure if she would be able to do that one because sometimes wenge is difficult to work with. She has been awesome throughout my custom-process.

My sticks are here! :disco:
I've been on such a blendy-kick lately, I can't stop! For some reason I'm obsessed with dark woods in dark hair right now.
Wenge is the top stick, Ziricote is the bottom one with the topper.
The woods look practically identical. There's a glare cause her work is so shiny! :sun:

Oh man, it's great to hear that her way to do sticks is by customs! I always wondered why her shop is empty.
I just sent her an etsy DM to ask if what I want is possible to make. I really like the green/yellow swirly toppers I've been seeing!
Your sticks are gorgeous, schnibbles!

Thanks! I managed to pick that one up from a thrift shop and was super pleased. Pure wool and not felted at all! Usually I have to knit my own sweaters, but that is not very fast when I am cold! :grnbiggri

And finally: An action shot of my custom order that came in the mail yesterday. :) The finish is super smooth, it glides into my hair easily and doesn't slip out like other sticks would. I like this one a lot!

Missblueeyes that stick looks perfect in your hair. Literally made for you...lol. :P
I really want a Zero or 10...but I have to be SUPER careful with spending as I am trying to buy a house. "House=more priority than more hairtoys" is my new mantra.

Here's my ebony and burl...I have a crush on it. Sadly my other stick doesn't work in this haircolor. Sigh, why can't I have it all?

What gorgeous sticks/hair EVERYONE!!! :crush:
It seems everyone's sticks are thicker than mine, which is ok. Mine are real thin in the middle, not skinny but thin. The ends are thicker..,which I like. That makes for less stress on my head if I wear two together. I ordered all dymondwood. I feel another order coming on.
