Since joining LHC I've started plopping my hair to dry it. I love the waves and curls I get but I've noticed that if I use mousse in my hair my curls are a bit "crunchy" If I don't use any product my hair is so soft it doesn't hold the curls for more than a few hours. I CO wash twice a week.
What if anything do you all use in your hair pre-plop?

For soft curls I use a little Suave Humectant Conditioner and mist with Aussie Sprunch spray. The scrunching takes a bit of the crunch out. I then plop in at shirt. Experiment with gel or any leave in.

I use the LOC method for styling (link is in my sig, and explanation is in the thread). :D Leaves my hair absolutely soft and wonderful, and you don't have to use the last step (gel/cream), so... if crunchiness bothers you. Mind you, I do gel, and have no crunchiness whatsoever (use Eco Styler).

You're doing it right.
Just forgetting the final, important step.
Once your hair is dry. And crunchy from the product. You scrunch your hair to get the hardness out and voila, soft but bouncy curls/waves.
It's such an important step :)
Edit to add: I just some leave in condish and over that some gel. Then I plop. Then I air dry. Then I scrunch :)

I will echo some of these suggestions. I loved mousse but have stopped using it and now use gel. I'm not a fan of the crunch factor so I've been using Flaxseed gel. The rare times that it has left the occasional clump crunchy, I have just scrunched it out when my hair was fully dry. I have just begun experimenting with a curl cream, which generally won't have any crunch, so that may be something to consider as well.

I use leave in and a hard-hold gel. I just scrunch if there's any gel crunch after it dries.

The more leave in conditioner the less the crunch IME. I also find with some styling products they are crunchy when touch dry but left another hour or two they soften up of their own accord. And there is always 'scrunch out the crunch' to fall back on.

I've never been able to use mousse. I've been experimenting with a couple Shea Moisture Curl and Style products and so far I'm happy with them. I had very nice waves yesterday after plopping with a bit of leave-in and Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Gel Souffle.

I plopped my hair overnight last night using a bit more leave in than usual and about 1/2 the amount of mousse. (I didn't feel like running out to buy gel but I will grab some next time I am at the drugstore) Results this morning are better than before. No crunch and loads of shiny bouncy waves and curls. :joy:
Thank you for all of your tips!

Fantastic. It's funny how conditioner can be as or more important in styling than products formulated for styling!!
