Hello everyone! Being new on this site I was wondering if anyone else was having the problem of their hair growing slow. I'm a bit past waist length and a bit above hip. As of late my hair hasn't (Or maybe I'm just crazy) been growing like usual. I feel like my hair is stuck in the same spot. I know this can't be my terminal growth since I've had maybe 2 trims in this past year, but I feel like my hair is at a stand still. The ends aren't scraggly, but they are a bit damaged due to the fact that when I was younger I didn't really know how to care for my hair. I do have a good amount of split ends, but I really don't want to cut my hair and lose length. Has anyone experienced this? Does hair grow slower at a certain length?:headache::?:undecided

And I wanted to add: Does your hair type really play a role in this??

You could be going through a stall. This happens. That doesn't mean you're at terminal. You'll have to not have growth for at least a year for you to conclude you "might" be at terminal. I wouldn't worry about it too too much, not yet in any case. You mention you've had 2 trims this year, and that might have something to do with it. We're only halfway into the year, and you've already had 2 trims. It could well mean you are having all your growth snipped off. Be mindful of too much trimming.

I don't think hair type matters when it comes to growing. It pretty much boils down to the genes you inherited from your folks, plus diet, plus how you care for your hair.

You might want to investigate daily scalp massage (in the head down position) to encourage those follicles to grow. Be sure to detangle before and after massage and only use your fingerpads, never finger nails.

For damaged ends try catnip tea soaks, search for catnip for instructions. The same Hartz brand found at Walmart - cheap and effective. Welcome to LHC.

Maybe you could start measuring your hair. Here's a thread about that: http://archive.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=8231

This way you can see if your hair grows or not. Sometimes it just looks like your hair doesn't grow, but it actually does.

Welcome! :blossom:

Welcome to the LHC, Wolfie!
I noticed that at your lenght (which happens to be more or less my lenght also) hair seems always to be at the same stage, but it actually grows.
Something you can do, as suggested, is measure it and/ore take a picture with the same striped shirt every month or more and track the growth (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=118393).
Curly/wavy hair is harder to measure because of the waves/curls pattern which can significantly variate in relation to humidity and other factors.
I don't know if you hair is dyed or colored, but if so, you can easily see the growth on the roots.
I suggest you to check on the waist to hip (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=17576) thread.
Happy growing!

I wouldn't advise measuring; that's frustrating as heck on wavy hair. Sometimes it will measure as though your hair actually shrunk! Instead, I would advise wearing a shirt with a pattern, preferably horizontal stripes, and take or have somebody else take a picture of the back of your head once per month. Then you'll know for sure whether or not it's growing.

My hair is growing like a weed lately. I think I have the long days of summer to thank.
