Hi, I am new here on the LHC forums - sorry if this isn't the right place for this question.

I looked through the thread on hair typing for wave patterns and am having a hard time deciding what type my hair is. Maybe someone with more experience could help me out?

I have a couple of photos - one from before I cut my hair back in January and another that was taken afterwards. I have never posted a photo on a forum before so I really hope this works.

This first one was when my hair was longer. The majority of the length is s-shaped waves with it straighter at the top and almost what look like really stretched out ringlets at the very end.

After I cut my hair it all looks like s-shaped waves to me.

I am thinking that I have a 2a hairtype, but am not sure. In both of these photos I had just used my normal shampoo and conditioner and let it air dry without touching it as much as possible. The shampoo I was using when these pictures were taken was an SLS shampoo and the conditioner had silicones in it. Would this affect the results?

Thanks in advance!

That to me looks like it's 2b, or 2a/2b. I'm not sure...

I would say it looks like 2b.

I agree 2a and with a little coaxing 2b

I think 2a/2b too. Mine is very slightly wavier than yours, and I think I'm 2b.

I'd tend to vote 2b.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! Looks like 2a/2b is the popular vote.

When I look at these photos of my air dried hair I tend to think it's crazy that I used to think of my hair as straight (all those years of blow-drying will do that I guess :) ).

Any tips for enhancing my waves when I wear it down? (Or where to ask about that)

My hair does the same thing - waves until bsl and then ringlets below that. I consider myself 2a/2b.

I agree 2a/b...very pretty!

I know of two methods that are often being mentioned here when it comes to enhance waves and wurls; plopping and CO-washing. The boards own search function can be pretty tricky, but if you google "long hair community" + "plopping" or "CO-wash" youŽll get plenty of results :)

Yup, 2a/2b in my opinion as well.

Curly Girl method: fits well with LHC techniques.

Nice to see you back, Firefox. :D

I would say 2b judging by the first picture and 2a in the second. So 2a/2b from me as well. :)
