My hair has layers starting at chin length and going down to shoulder length but on one side they've become quite clumpy (I cut them a bit) and I cut them too blunt so theyre just sitting awkwardly not looking like theyre part of my hair (unless I straighten all my hair fully then it all blends nicely!) Can I ask the hairdresser to thin it out ? I have trouble trusting hairdressers incase she cuts them really short or something.. Just don't know what to do with it as its annoying me! Also do you think thinning it out will help to make it more uniform in the rest of my hair and grow out better ? I feel that the hairs in the clump part kind of snag and get dry fast too! Whereas the rest is fine. Thanks everyone :) x

It unusual that it blends in better with straightened hair, that normally reveals more of an uneven cut. Maybe i would just try switching up the part and definitely i would not get it thinned out, because oviously the layer is too short and not growing too thick from your head. I suggest waiting until your entire hair needs a trim and only trim a very tiny bit on the parts that has to blend in, so it gradually will catch up.
The damage could be a result of scissors that weren't sharp enough. Only ever use real haircutting scissors when trimming your own hair and make sure to get them sharpened every once in a while.

I used proper scissors although it does feel damaged! Going to go to the hairdressers to see what she can do.. the layer is cut down past my chin so I hope she can make it look a little more blended in ! Worried in case I need to get loads cut off up to the layers :/ due to the layers on that side looking like a separate haircut :/ thanks for the input :)
