Was browsing on the Grah-toe artfire store and came across this appreciation photo. I'd love to learn how she did this. Anyone know?

The second link is some sort of flipped bun, but can't tell what is done before the flip. Very pretty both of them!

I think I know! Maybe? It appears to be a brioche bun, and the hair sticks in your picture are pulling apart the top loops, making it look like it has even more loops. Here is a video tutorial of how to make it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cobz1py6RpY

I thought it looked edible! Seriously, some of these buns, I want to slather them with butter and take a bite. (But maybe that's because I haven't had breakfast.)

I wonder if second one was sligly to the side flipped cinnamon bun ? She just have VERY long and could make many of the hair twists before flipping up. Anyway I LOVE! I think I'll try it out if possibly will be able to make it :D

Just tried to flip the side way figure 8 and I think it goes even clouser to look like that.. But I do not have enough of hair :(

Ok I think I kinda got it! The second hairstyle. Unfotunantly my hair isn't long enough to do all the amazing twist the girl has there :( This is a side way figure 8 that I flipped up and secured :D Sorry my hair looks like a mess, but I was working on accuring the right look :D

Just need some thicker hair sticks. This Ed ones move too easily in my hair. What do you think ? Am I on the right dirrection ? ;)

Yeah need to start practicing indeed! Now that can see how potentially it can look..... I love all the styles that do not require millions of bobypins! At some point I was wearing so many, that I was finding my bobypins everywhere! :)

StellaKatherine, it does look like she has a lot more coils. Must have very long hair. *sigh* someday!

(Hopefully someday I'll get real hair sticks too.)

Nicely done!

I tried the other and failed horribly (didn't have time to take photos for the failed thread, sorry). I couldn't tell if I was simply doing it wrong or if I didn't have the thickness to make it LOOK the same even though it was. . . I'll try again soon.

That looks beautiful! I tried to do the flipped figure 8, but can't get it. Where did you start the bun? At the nape or at the middle? Are you leaving any part loose before the flip? I can't seem to get the knack of flipping it without having it fall apart on me.

Jennwith4

I started in the middle and tried to loosely twist my hair into the figure 8. I kept one hand constantly on the 8 portion while trying to flip it accurately. The entire process was completely by feel alone and only checked with a mirror after finishing. Sorry, I couldn't be of more help.

I tried to reverse google image search the pictures and it looks like you have them figured out already! The first one (https://mbasic.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150955544159025&id=202833224024&set=a.454916569024.240835.202833224024&source=46&refid=17) on facebook, in the comments "she said its a brioche bun, but she did it a little different, i have been trying to do one for months LOL here is the video:" with a link to this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cobz1py6RpY&list=PL171599B2A34150EA&index=35&feature=plpp_video&hd=1).
The second one (https://mbasic.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150591999504025&id=202833224024&set=a.454916569024.240835.202833224024&source=46&refid=17) is annotated with "Thank you so much for the action picture of your antler hair forks in an awesomely beautiful Hypno swirl!! fantastic updo!!" The only video I can find of this hairstyle is this one (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CCuFWr3AsSo&hd=1), but it looks like it's exactly what you've been doing - a sideways flipped figure 8. I'm pretty impressed with how quickly you figured them out from pictures alone, it's almost like a superpower!

I thought maybe I nearly had it, but then looking again maybe not!

Couldn't find my second Nyan stick today. Boo. It's comfy though and I prefer the overall shape it gives to my head over a bun.

Wow! Reverse google search never thought of that! You are awesome. I just tried the brioche bun last night and came to that exact conclusion too. Just 1 twist looked different than the pic so I figured she made hers a little differently. Thank you for your help!

Hey, try, try again! Right? I end up getting it 1 out of every 3 times I make it. It's a little complicated to flip it just right I've discovered. :)

Somehow today I just can't take a good picture. Tried in different lights, in different angles and nothing works really :/ Maybe It just my hair doesn't work..... And I can't make "shell" turn on the left even if my life would depend on it :D

StellaKatherine, tutorial found thanks to howdaredelilah! She posted a link a few posts up but it's also know as the hypno swirl bun. Watching the vid, it's pretty much how I made mine. Good luck!

I am glad I figured it right, with figure 8 and flipping up ( kinda proud of myself ). Yeah that is is the way I did it too basicly. It seems to get slightly different shapes each time making it. But honestly I liked all the other variations of it as well :D
