I am looking for a pair of shorter, thicker hair sticks. Thick like TT sticks but short like 5". I haven't seen anything on the swap board and I have perused the internet and Etsy. Any recommendations?

I don't like toppers nor any engravings, I am a plain type person though I do like the TT look on the less-fancy ones. I stick to black, gray, charcoal colors, or possibly brown wood colored. Neutrals, basically.

I can't suggest any Etsy shops off the top of my head that have them listed but I mean...there's always custom orders? If I make some like that to list myself I'll let you know. I've got some thick blocks of Redwood I've made some thick sticks out of. I for some reason tend to make thick sticks when I make them.

Have you asked Doug if he could make you a 5" TT? It would take a few months, but you could get the less-fancy TT like you like.

Eaduard Hairsticks on etsy could make customs for you from Oregon Hardwoods :)

I agree with the others. Find something you like and ask for a shorter custom.

Purple moon makes short, dark, thick sticks, FWIW.

Like this one: https://www.etsy.com/listing/123193973/hand-turned-hair-stick-5-inch-handmade

ETA: You could always commission someone here, too. I make simple sticks as do a lot of others. You could ask on the self-made thread. I don't think that should be against the rules.

You could get a dowel from a craft store, cut it it to five inches (I do this with an old kitchen knife), sharpen one end slightly in a pencil sharpener, sand it a little and then color with nailpolish to a color you like, while waiting to buy one. It wouldn't look like a TT but would hold your hair.
Great to see you posting again by the way.

Here's some 5 1/2 inches, I'm sure they would cut them to 5 inches if you wanted

I have a hair 'claw' from them that just slides into my hair, beautifully finished, perfectly smooth.
they also do acrylic, but that's more in their artfire shop

I'm sure Rich with OutNumbered Novelties (https://www.etsy.com/shop/OutNumberedNovelties/sold?ref=shopinfo_sales_leftnav) would be happy to help with either something in either wood or acrylic. He's doing thicker acrylics now.

Great to see you posting again by the way.

Thanks! I have time between summer classes and fall, finally! Even though I am working full time it's not as time consuming as school!

More great suggestions everyone!

Wow Perfume Collectors are super thick! I have never seen any like that!

Outnumbered novelties looks promising as well.

I will probably check into some custom orders. I am not really in a hurry to find them, been looking for some time (ok, a long time, maybe a year) and just want something really suited for my taste. I just haven't seen then yet.

Some of the Eaduard sticks look like "me". I sent him a message but haven't heard back yet.

Can someone post a link to perfume collectors? I can't find any hair sticks under that name on etsy.

I bought some from amadlife a few years back. It sounds like he might fit what you're after if he's still operating.

I second eaduard hairsticks - he sometimes does thicker ones, called "oversized," and they come in 5". Or possibly LadyIdun, you'd just have to ask about which designs can be done as 5"...

I ordered from Eaduard though I am still looking :) I have my eye on a TT stick that someone else got before I could. I will eventually order one when they will take orders again. I am patient. I can wait. In the mean time, I have 4 sticks coming from Eaduard he is trimming back to custom lengths for me. Thanks guys!

I still would like some good wood double-ended sticks.?
