Greetings! I wanted to show everyone my progress since 2011. Hopefully it'll help motivate those growing out dye/bleach as well.
Now for a short story. Back in 2011, I fried the living bejeebus out of my hair. A failed bleach/dye attempt ended in this disaster - and also landed me here.

http://i61.tinypic.com/x2md5z.jpg

When I first found this site, I was given the honest truth by the members.. that my hair could not be salvaged. Clearly, there was nothing that could be done. Shortly after, I cut my hair to shoulder length. After many years of dye/bleach and daily heat, my hair was officially destroyed. As you can see, my curls had even lost their bounce. My hair was ruined, my curl pattern was completely lost, and at the time.. I honestly didn't think I would ever be able to get my hair to a healthy state.

I ended up attempting to grow out the rest of my dyed hair, but when it hit about waist length, it had to be cut back to BSL to remove more damage. My hair was extremely thin toward the end, and my WL hair looked much shorter than it was. I ended up cutting off around 4" and then started micro-trimming monthly. I eventually started hovering over WL, and maintained until early 2014. I've now removed the rest of the dye, and back in May, I decided to stop trimming for a year - but recently decided to stop trimming altogether. Just S&D. I've decided to embrace my natural hemline and finally, I get to focus more on the actual length ^_~

This is my hair now!

- The first photo was taken back in February. That was the last time I did a solid 1-2inch trim. The third photo is today 6/30/14

- Braid waved in the first photo, my natural curl in the second

I have to admit, im quite proud of myself! Back in 2011, I would have never thought I would have the hair that I have now.

If that's not a lesson in the advantages of nature vs. bleach, I don't know what is. It makes me wonder why so many of us (pointing finger at self, here) have to thrash their hair before seeing the light. Thanks so much for sharing your transformation.
