Hello...

Ouch, I just hitted my head so hard that it started to bleed. Unfortunatly it didn't open up so it doesn't need to be sewn... I know if it had to then they would have to cut hair on the spot the wound is... My mom had to put hydrogen peroxide (įgua oxigenada in portuguese, I thougt it was oxygenated water or something in english)... Well, is this bad? I know some people use this to go blond... will it weaken my hair or make it lighter in that spot?

Gosh I'm so scared I just dropped myself to tears when I found myself alone.

Help :(

Well, I'm already blonde, but I've never noticed a bleaching from hydrogen peroxide. Hope your head feels better- see a doctor if you feel dizzy or sick.

Little Bird....sorry about your OUCH! No fun at all.

Hydrogen Peroxide can bleach your hair. I don't know how long it takes, or if it takes repeated applications for changes to take effect, but yeah, it can make your hair lighter. As far as weakening the hair - I'm only assuming that there would be damage from it, I don't know for certain.

Dear Little_Bird:
Oh dear, that does sound dreadful! :-( But I don't think you need to worry about your hair -- I've had my scalp bleed before, and noticed no difference in hair colour or growth after. I hope you are not in pain! *virtual hug*:grouphug:

Repeated useage will, but if pouring a little bit on a sore will not hurt your hair. You can use a q-tip or cotton ball for precision in applying it too, so it's not being poured all over. Hope you heal soon!

Just an FYI:
for scalp lacerations, you often do not have to shave
that area... sometimes you can even take a couple
strands of hair and tie them together to keep the laceration
together. Obviously, some won't like this, but it's great on
little boys with long hair, you don't have to inject a local anaesthetic and you don't have to do sutures which tends
to scare them.

I think iodum solutions are better disinfectants than agua oxigenada. But it tints a dark brown, and I don't know if this could stain your blonde hair (I wouldn't expect it to be a permanent colour, but who knows? maybe you can try on shed hairs, or ask your pharmacist). I really don't think you are gonna notice any lightening on your hair for just one application of agua oxigenada, don't worry!

There are transparent disinfectant solutions, you can get one in the pharmacy. And do get checked by a doctor if you have a headache or dizziness.

Well, it didn't really hurt much after the hitting, I was just really scared because of my hair (it may sound stupid but I have been feeling so down and weak that little things are afecting me really bad...)

This is not the first time I put hydrogen peroxide on my hair I think and I never noticed anything. I was just so scared :(

Thank you all so much for all the suport, I really apreciate it :flower: You guys are so sweet, thank you :)

I think I would be more worried about the scar. I hit my head when I was little, and now I have a little bald spot where the scar is.

Eeks, sorry you whanged your head! I get so mad when that happens!
But, as others have said, one application of H2O2 to an isolated spot isn't going to bleach your hair.

Oh, Little Bird, I'm so sorry your hurt. I do hope you feel better soon:grouphug: as far as your hair goes, I'm sure that it will be fine. I really hope that you get over this blue spell soon and that you feel joyful again.

I've used peroxide in my or my kids scalp, just applying a small amount with a q-tip will not change color of hair.

My hair is naturally dark brown. Years ago when I had virgin hair, I hit my head on a wall. I got a cut on my scalp and even lost a little hair. I put peroxide on the cut and it didn't affect my hair color at all.

The hydrogen peroxide shouldn't affect your haircolour because the type that is put on cuts is usually a 5% solution. (Or it is in Canada, at least.) The type of peroxide that is used to bleach hair is about 40%, and is left on for a longer amount of time. So you shouldn't have to worry!

Hope your head feels better.
