Today at the store I looked at both Renpure Solutions Cleansing Conditioner and Renpure Originals Argan Oil shampoo & conditioner. The bottle brags "No sulfates, parabens, dyes, gluten, phthalates, propylene glycol". A few of the ingredients - Amodimethicone (cleansing conditioner) and Behentrimonium chloride (argan oil), for example - gave me pause.

I am new to scrutinizing my shampoos and conditioners (I recently switched to organic and am trying rye flour as well), and would love some insight from someone more aware than me!

I used the Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner and I liked them a lot at first, but ended up feeling underwhelmed after I used them for some time. They are nice products and if my current favorites were discontinued, I would buy them again.

They both contain cones, though I'm pretty sure they are both water soluble. My hair doesn't hate cones, so they didn't give me any problems.

The shampoo is very gentle...A little too gentle for my needs. In order to get a decent clean, I felt the need the shampoo twice during a wash which, to me, was a bit of a waste of product. I did like that, even washing twice, it got my scalp fairly clean and didn't leave my hair feeling too stripped. I also did notice less breakage from using that shampoo and felt that I lost less hair washing with this than I did any other shampoo I've used.

The conditioner was nice. It had a nice thickness to it and smelled lovely and gave a little bit of slip. However, it just wasn't moisturizing or slippery enough for my coarse hair.

What I loved about both of the products was the fact neither of them irritated my skin. I have a bad problem with shampoos and conditioners breaking me out into hives. Neither of them did that.

It may work better for you seeing as you have more medium hair whereas mine is more coarse. I definitely think they're worth trying out because they really are good products and they're cheap as well. They just weren't good for my hair type.

I just got the argan shampoo and conditioner and I like them. Amodimethicone is not water soluble but is not known for building up easily. Also the cocomidipropyl betaine will wash it out. I find this poo and cond. make my hair hang better and less messy than my former no cone ones. So far its great.

Great, thanks for your thoughts! I think I'll just stick with my rye flour mixture for now, but I appreciate the feedback and will remember that if I ever feel like I need to go out and get a "real" shampoo :)
