Protective styles for nearly WL hair?

Hello :)
I am looking for some interesting styles that would be easy to do on my hair which is 3" short of waist and quite thick (ponytail circumference is about 4").
I love historical inspired hairstyles like the Edwardian Gibson girl inspired hairstyles, braided styles preferably that have a little volume or hair to frame my face.

You might want to have a look at youtube. People who post hairstyle videos often do the loose,braided,modern hairstyles that frame the face well.
I feel like a lot of LHC basic buns are "get my hair off my neck but real quick!" kind of hairstyles.
