How can I make this hairstyle? - Wuthering Heights

I was watching Wuthering heights (the book is 100 times better than the movie) and I really liked that hairstyle. First I thought it's a braid but it's not. Well, do you have any ideas, how can I make it ? What materials should I use ? And I believe Catherine's hair is shorter during the movie than on that scene. Anyways, photos:

It looks like a braid with ribbon braided through and wrapped around the end of it, hard to see much more than that though.

I see, I'll try it sometime soon. Couldn't find pics that show it better, sorry. It must be a very loose braid..

I agree with what Sarahlabyrinth said, and would also add that it looks like they did something like loose Marcel waves in the front, then grabbed all the hair loosely together, and finally braided just midway-down to the ends, wrapping with ribbon.
