Hi all,

I joined the forum just over a year ago (I think) after a disastrous bleaching incident that left me with broken, disgusting hair. I swore at that point that I would never use chemical dyes again and took my first step into the world of henna and, therefore, LHC.

I'm pleased to say that I've stuck to my vow and I'm now at a stage where I'm beginning to like my hair again. Some photos to show progress:

My first use of henna over the bleach. Just after I had about 6 inches of damaged hair cut off. It made me very, very sad. Approx April 2013:

Today. Several henna applications later and a lot of TLC:

I didn't really realise how much growth I've had until looking at these photos so it's reinforced my commitment to looking after my hair.

I still have bleach in the ends, hence to "ombre" that can be seen better here:

but once my hair has reached a nice length, I'll get that chopped out too so I'll have a whole head of non-chemical hair!

Thank to each and every one of you for your wonderful tips and methods and general sharing of knowledge. It's really helped me to understand my hair a lot better.

Speaking of which, I've been trying to get my hair typing right. I'm definitely Fine, I've measure my ponytail and I'm a ii but can't decide on my wave pattern. Here it is:

I think I may be a 2 something? Any opinions would be much appreciated!

You're hair is very beautiful! I'm starting down the same path now, but hope to not have to cut my hair short. I did my last bleach blonde session a couple of months ago and decided to stop using bleach and switch to henna. Had to go through a couple of steps using a semipermant and followed a couple of weeks later by a permanent color to get closer to my natural color before trying henna. Just did the final permanent color step yesterday and hopefully that will be the last chemical dye ever. Am planning to do my first henna application Thursday and would be thrilled if mine turns out half as pretty as yours! Thanks for sharing! Your journey is an inspiration!

If that's a "real" hair typing picture, then I would put you as 2a.

Great progress!

Thanks all. I feel very proud thanks to your lovely compliments. I followed the hair-typing photograph rules for the photo so that's my natural air dried, un brushed state! I was thinking 2a too but get the odd ringlet formjng here and there?

I said 2a, because up to your shoulders your hair is pretty much straight, with the odd wave at the bottom. That seems a little "loose" to be 2b or even 2c.

Very true. I'll go with 2a then! Thanks for your help!
