Braid workshop? And 'cutter' comb...opinions?

Hi all :)
Hair romance (http://www.hairromance.com/) is having a braid tutorial in a town an hour from where I am and I'm thinking of going.......do you guys think it's worth it for a braid challenged human such as my self?
Also I like the idea of this comb (http://www.twistmepretty.com/product/cutter-comb-single) but what do you think the chances are of accidentally cutting out a chunk of hair rather than the elastic are? I'm braid challenged, so I'd go if it's not too expensive. As for the comb, I don't use elastics, but it totally use that on my kid's hair. Singe you'd be cutting g parallel to the hair, it probably wouldn't be easy to cut out a chunk of hair. Maybe if you couldn't see what you were doing you could...

If the braiding show is free, then go for it. Personally, I wouldn't spend $$ on that unless 1) I already had basic braids down pat and knew that I'd be able to sit as close as possible to the braid model so I could see how the braiding was done (assuming the braiding is done on a live model).

As for the comb...ugh! Why can't people learn how to take out those tiny bands properly?

I don't put the kid's hair up in those often, but she can't keep her head off the carpet. The somehow she always gets horrible mats in the bands and there's usually a good sum of carpet fiber. On her my only option Is to break them. A lot of the time they end up breaking by them self before we're even ready to take her hair down.

I think the braid workshop is where she goes around each person and helps them braid their own hair, or at least thats how I understand it :)
As for the comb I think it's more what kind of hair you have, mine gets tangled in everything: buttons, necklaces, earrings (I had to cut an earring out once :( ), hair bands etc no matter how careful I am so being able to get them out without any yanking would be nice.......also I know some people use the clear elastics to help them start a braid too and then cut it out after, with scissors! I've never done that, I can just imagine accidentally cutting my hair!

I've used scissors to cut out a tiny elastic without cutting my hair, so I would imagine its even easier with that tool. I doubt it would cut any hair.
