Very neat bun. Kind of like a Nautilus, but you don't pull the loop over, you leave it out and pull it apart over top of the roundy-roundy bits.

This is my go to bun. I didn't know it had a name. Thought I had just devised a new kind of nautilus.

Ooh, what a lovely bun! If only I had her hair to do it with! (rushes off to the bedroom to try it)

Oh, I like that bun! Trouble is my hair is a lot thinner than hers, so when I do it, it looks nothing like her bun :( My hair is so thin that the stick won't even stay in. I have to put a bunch of bobby pins in it to hold it, then put in the hair stick. I have enough length - hip length but not the thickness - sure wish that I had thicker hair!

I will try this out, hopefully i have enough of hair volume to get my hair look even half as good :)

I like doing this with a wide fork inside the loop.

My length is heavily layered so it doesn't look like hers at all. That is okay. It feels like a solid bun and it is easy enough to do.

Oh! That's how I do a lazy wrap lol, except mine goes horizontal rather than vertical. I didn't realize there was actually a different name for it.

Thanks for sharing, she sure has gorgeous hair :) I do my bun this way (it's the only bun I lerned to do until now) and I always thought it's a lazy wrap bun.

Ooooo... This works great for showing off shorter sticks in my hair! The vertical positioning of the stick is nice, I generally do an orchid bun (I think...) which is similar but leaves the stick horizontal and covers more of the stick.

That's how I did my Nautilus bun when my hair was blunt-cut around tailbone length.

Any ideas what the hairstick is in the tutorial?

Exactly the same for me. I can't get it to work.

I got it to work on my hair and it holds great, but I'd probably need more length to make it look like that.

I love it. I wore it all day and it held up! So easy too, once you figure out the trick to it.

I saw this video the other day and thought it was great that the German long hairs had their own name for the nautilus

I've been wearing this bun with a single hairstick! I even needed to run at one point.... I've never felt my bun so secured! Love it! So happy I learn it :D :happydance::joy:

This youtube account is a goldmine of beautiful hair tutorials! This bun didn't interest me much, but I really love this style: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rh3LDTcA2E4 Wow!

I think there isn't any bun that wouldn't look good in that hair. It's like a bun commercial :D Stunning, stunning hair she's got there.

At the beginning, she says you can do it with just a few fingers instead of the whole hand, like she does. That'll probably work better for thinner hair. Play with the number of fingers that you wrap around, because that's a key for most buns in this category.

My try at the Nessa bun. Searched high and low for this lonely chopstick. Haven't used any hair sticks in a long time so they have all disappeared. :(

I've managed it at just shy of BSL, although the little layers are all sticking out all over the place. The trick to doing it with the shorter length is to wrap only around one finger in the first wrap, and then wrap only once in the second pass. :)

Thanks! I managed it by using 1 finger and wrapping only 1 time, but my hair still says no. It slips out of my fine thin hair as soon as I lean over, even when I use pins. :(

My go-to bun every night and most days for I don't even know how many months now, and it *just* dawned on me this evening that it's a Nessa Bun  of course it looks completely different because my wraps around the stem compress and disappear into general bulk, which is probably why it never twigged before, and I use 3 fingers. Hehe. Glad I have a name for it now though :D

I think I did it! (and I think I also have the thing happening with all the details being absorbed/compressed like you said, Spoons).

I remember trying this one before and definitely not having enough hair :D
