View Full Version : June 2014: Lots of hairsticks!

It's June. School's out, summer's here, and it's hot enough that you want your hair up but also want to have a little fun..... ;)

So this month, just for the silliness of it, post your buns that contain more than the usual number of hairsticks. It might be 3, it might be 4, it might be your whole collection! Have fun!

So, Alice Cooper as an earworm to incite overly sticky hair?

Mostly just getting to the point of being low on ideas plus me being zany. :) (Those who know me will tell you that I'm usually zany.)

Lol, I love it! What kind of sticks are those, they are amazing!

:o they are the only hair toy collection I have and of course my favorites. A local artist makes them, they are made of clay and inspired by LoTR (Gandalf's staff)

There is no website from what I know :( , it's a local shop in Naxos - Greece and I got those while I was on vacation there.

I love your hairsticks. They beautiful and so thick. Does they hold better then a thin hairstick? I never have a thick one.

Those are fantastic Feesia! (My favorite flower, too.)

Ok, here are all my sticks, well, one or two might be hiding somewhere, but this is all that were on my dresser!

These specifically are a bit heavy, if I'm active (eg. riding a bike) the stone turns the bun clockwise and my slippery hair tends to throw the stick away :p . They are fragile too ! I suppose that regular thick or thin wooden hairsticks have better hold in general.

Wow neko, that is a lot of sticks!

It kept making me giggle how much this looked like a peacock's tail sticking out around my head from the front. Pretty much all of my hair sticks, and probably not something I'd ever wear out in public:

Back in the day when all I had were Turn of the Century sticks I'd wear my hair like this if I wanted something a little more attention grabbing on my head:

I've lost a set or two over the years, I used to be able to mix the patterns up a little more. :\

Freesia, I adore those sticks! Awesome score!
Neko, you look like a Medusahead! :D
Loving the delicate spray of sticks, sumidha!

My head felt very heavy after stuffing all of the chopsticks I nailpolished into my bun. Not to mention tighter than usual... I left out the natural ones, because, yanno, I kinda ran out of room. Now to unpick the things from my head! Oh, and it's winter here and we have scudding clouds today, but somehow the sticks brighten the gloom.

I present to you, Echidnahead (coz we don't have porcupines here):

I like this! I just got 2 pairs of toc sticks.

Crystawni I was looking at your picture and thinking how much I liked your hair color and then it dawned on me that it is very close to my color. This is so strange because I never thought my hair color was pretty. I like your big blue bug too.

I don't know how everyone can make such pretty buns. Mine are so plain.

Stormynights, I totally understand that (and ta for the compliment!)! Even at my age, I still don't know, or appreciate, my own colour (especially since the whites are coming out of hiding), and actually never see anything like it where I live. The closest is my daughter (without the whites), although her shade is a bit blonder (less golden). It was such an eye-opener to see the Tawny thread on here. I felt "at home". :D

Thanks very much for the compliments on the ToC sticks, guys. I always had a suspicion that even though I liked it, it might look a little like I had a bunch of chair legs sticking out of my head, so I'm glad the ladies of LHC approve! :flower:

This just-to-try-it updo with two 8buns [I just learned those!!! :joy: ] actually cost me one of my favorite hairsticks! :wail: the purple pair is no longer a pair :(

So this actually used 3 ;) so I had to take pictures of the culprit-do just so it wouldn't be wasted.

Jadedbyentropy, that's pretty cute. I'm sorry you lost a pretty in its making, though! :(

This one's for all you Whovians out there--the Nightblooming Dr. Who collection!

Medievalmaniac, I love Dr.Who! Your bun is fabulous!

This seemed fun, so I put all my EmergentGlassworks sticks in my hair. Only 7 sticks, but still pretty heavy.

Ooooookay, here's my contribution to this thread! This is the first challenge I've done, and it was quite fun, though I could barely move!

BAhahahahaha! There's a head under there, oogles? Or should that be "oodles"? You've got some gorgeous stuff there, as does KittyBird and Medievalmaniac. I'm wondering, though, if you had've stayed there much longer, oogles, would the birds have used your head as a nest?

Thanks, neko!

Believe it or not, there is a head under there, but it's a tiny little pin-head. I just counted... I think I see 25 sticks there. And DH couldn't even get them all in to the bun!

And Crystawni, you may call me oodlipoo. For you, I'll answer to that.

If a bird had roosted, I would have let it stay, so long as it would have held still for the picture! Wouldn't that be cool? A real bird topped stick?

oh wow at some of these buns! KittyBird you have me considering getting an EmergentGlassworks stick again! And ooglipoo where is the giant butterfly on your right from?

here's my contribution...my hair vs 10 Timberstones. OMG this is so heavy, yet such a secure bun!

I could run a marathon in this bun, its so secure! But I wouldn't wear it out of the house!
