I've been looking at things on Etsy, since I want to die broke, apparently. I came across this seller and these lovely slides and barrettes. I did search on this seller, but didn't find a thread, although the shop is listed in The List of Etsy Sellers Thread (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=111783&highlight=starflowersilver).

Does anyone have any experience with this seller? Like the stuff? Not?? Action shots?:eyebrows:

Oops, here's the link! https://www.etsy.com/shop/starflowersilver?section_id=5796342&ref=shopsection_leftnav_2

I wasn't aware of this maker, but oh my, what beautiful work she does! Anything in silver catches my attention, and this little beauty has it for sure.......https://www.etsy.com/listing/59524652/silver-recurve-barrette-small?ref=related-4

I would also be interested in knowing if anyone here has purchased from her shop.

I bought this a couple months back: https://www.etsy.com/transaction/177447921

I love brass, and swirls, so was amazed by her stuff. A little less 'robust' (i.e. strength-wise) than say, a MairzyDozy fork, but still lovely! I have her brass pair of sticks (like the fork above) favourited to be purchased someday. Didn't take long for the seller to make the item up and ship it, either.

Yeah, Kina you will die broke--and you will take me right along with you.
This stuff is lovely (though probably a bit too fragile for my hair)

:rollin: You are not wrong, chen, not wrong at all! I have, however, manfully (well, womanfully) refrained from the superclips AND have not ordered the lavender silky clip. I iz proud of me! I reallyreallyreallyreally wanted to buy the auburn, just couldn't.

And if I'm taking you with me, I'm in great company! :toast:

They do look fragile, also I worry that the whirls in the design will catch on my hair. I do think they are lovely, though.

Thanks so much for posting those pics, it is stunning, but your hair is AMAZING! very very pretty! I love all the colors in it!

OMG I'm doomed now. And I'm taking you with me, chen! :face::silly:

that's definitely going on the list.

They do look fragile, though, do you find it so, bekstamonkey?

awww, shucks! Thank you! :o

Not really fragile...like I said, this one feels less heavy-duty than a MairzyDozy/TempestMoon fork (which, to me, feel like they could handle anything I threw at them!). I suspect starflowersilver just uses a different gauge of metal to start with...but it's still pretty solid. When I first got it it in the post, I was surprised, expecting a more 'robust' piece, and wondered if it'd be strong enough to hold my hair...and it is! I'm at hip with ii thickness, so might be a stretch for iii at the same length, I dunno. The only thing I'm not rapt with about this fork, are the ends...as you can see, they're bent metal rather than points...so can be tricky to get them through hair so as to avoid breakage (I do manage). However, I do like the different look for the ends poking out. I do love this fork. No regrets in buying it. I see she's removed her matching pair of sticks from her listings. That makes me sad, I wanted those. LOL.

Thanks for replying. She did a sale recently (I resisted, sadly). Maybe that's where things went?

Darn, and I missed it! I'm not sure about all her items, but I know my fork was an order-to-make item...I guess i can always just ask if she can make me a pair (they're identical to the pins used with her slides).

Have not been impressed with either order. First was far too flimsy, even using it for a loose half up that couldn't stay up for an hour badly warped the metal down and twisted to the left. Second was horribly finished, very harsh and rough over the surface, extremely sharp edges.

Sigh, my only metal sources remain MD and Quattro. MD doesn't flex at all usually, so kind of fussy to get it. Quattro does flex, a good deal in titanium, but is able to go back to a neutral position. I miss Argus.
