My hair or the majority of it, is just shy of BSL. Growing out layers I cut about an inch off the length to even it out. Shortest layer now grazes shoulder . Except some bangs.

I am kind of disgusted with it at present cause I don't know how to style it. The bangs are about 6 inches now . They naturally part and I think when my hair is flat or when its braided or pulled back off my face that I look rather "severe". I have a love hate relationship with hair in my face.

I had a perm years ago with the bangs and loved it. But hated that it took them 6 hours JUST to roll my hair and the crunchy damage it left.

I usually wear it in a side sweep at the natural part when it's down.

Any ideas? I am going to look at the thread for hair styles .

Could you curl your bangs? Some people have success with just twirl hair around their finger to curl it. Personally I adore cocoon curls. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6uPj2JueWaw

I would try heatless curls on length and curling the bangs under with a round brush, fingers or heatless curler towards the side as it sounds like this can somewhat mimic what you liked about having a perm. beautyklove has some great heatless curl methods on her channel. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCp2Fm1fzjSAMmlnZ8F-C1nA
I cannot wait to get enough length to make some of these work. Her sponge curls were perfect (used a car sponge cut into only 6 or 7 long pieces)

What I always did at that length was a dutch lace braid across the front that starts above one ear and goes down around the other ear, like a very far forward headband. You can then put it into a bun, a ponytail, or another braid, but it looks less severe than just straight pulled back, and it keeps the bangs out of your face well.

What about a Peacock Twist? I used to love wearing them at your length and got a lot of compliments on it. It can be held with sticks, a big claw clip, Ficcare, Flexi-8, comb and probably others but I can't think of anymore right now.

For your bangs, what if you twisted them either straight back or to the side and push them forward to create a little pouf so they're not slicked back. You can secure them with bobby pins, mini claw clips, etc.
