View Full Version : I present to you: Tunnel Bun :)

This was supposed to be one english braid going round the french braided part. Apparently, my hair was too short (and thin i might add) to make a full cycle, so i made two braids to see if they can make it. They couldn't, so i just circled each braid as far to the opposite side as i could and then tucked in & secured with a bazillion U pins.

Although i consider this a FAIL, i think the end result doesn't look too bad :) It kinda looks like a tunnel don't you think? ;)

That looks great! If you don't like the hair tie, you could hid it under a barrette or slide or flowers. . .

A flexi8 was the missing piece...

It looks lovely! Especially with the flexi, I agree that that was the missing piece. I've done something similar before, but kept it a bit closer to the french braid in the middle so it looked more bun like.

I wouldn't call it a fail at all, it looks very pretty :) If you hadn't written you meant to do something else I'd be sure that was the style you went for intentionally :)

Seeing that style gives me an idea - what if instead of a french braid it was a rope braid, and at the nape each half (strand) of the rope braid was rope-braided (to get 2 rope braids) and then those two were wrapped around the "main" braid in the tunnel bun style? That would probably be fancy enough for an event or a dancing ball :)

That's neat! I wondered how it could resemble a tunnel and there it is! :-)

Gosh, I thought it looked really nice, and when you added the Flexi I realized it was *Elegant*! :)

That's gorgeous! And your hair doesn't look thin at all to me, especially where the hair tie is...

Thanks everyone! Make sure to share your versions of this style if you ever try it :)

I've done something similar before, but kept it a bit closer to the french braid in the middle so it looked more bun like.

I will make it closer too, so that i can complete a circle with each braid :)

I see your point :) I'll try that one next, when i recharge my patience :D

Haha yep, it was supposed to form a perfect oval shape, but it always ends up flat on the bottom and oval on top making the whole thing resemble a tunnel.

That's gorgeous! And your hair doesn't look thin at all to me, especially where the hair tie is...

I do have a decent amount of hair naturally. Thanks to the thinning shears disaster from 3 years ago, i have remarkable tapering from APL down. My ends have only 1/4 of thickness :(

That looks lovely, so elegant. I wish my hair was longer so I could do it myself!

I wish my hair was long enough to make the original version of this style :( Grass is greener...

Love it! The flexi was the perfect finishing touch, I'll be keeping this style in mind for when my hair is longer. :)
