View Full Version : Helix bun?

Kherome
May 21st, 2014, 11:28 AM
Did I get it? I've tried many times and it never works. I think I might have actually gotten it this time though? Forgive the choice of hair toy...after it was done I realized it make it look like little martian antennae sticking up out of my head.

I have no idea if you managed to create it "right" as I don't think I've ever seen what a Helix bun should look like (I'll need to correct that this weekend and search for some tutorials, lol), but whether it's "right" or not, it certainly does look like a beautiful style :)

Whatever it is, it worked out very nicely if you ask me. So if it is the dealie you were going for, or not, doesn't matter in my eyes ;)

Whaou !
I didn't know this bun.
In the tutorial I saw, it seems pretty hard.
congratulations :)

Is that a beebutt bun that's pulled up and pinned, or is it something more complicated?

Either way, looks great! Nice job!

Yeah, I know what to do... But hair not long enough yet.

It's a very classy looking bun and on my wish list to do eventually.

Kherome's is a very pretty example.

Haha, it feels a little like sorcery trying to get it done right! I think if you have ii hair like me, you can get this bun in around BCL, if you're an iii I think you might be out of luck til past Classic! It's definitely (for some reason) the hardest bun to get right, for me.

A beautiful helix bun! I don't have enough length yet unfortunately.

On another note, does anyone know how to post a video on You Tube without it putting your real name on it? It has changed my settings somehow and only wants to show my real name these days. I would prefer to keep my privacy and not put my real name on YT.... help, anyone?

I'm probably just going to make myself another email address and log into youtube through that. Otherwise there's no way. I think Google did this to try and reign in the reputation for horrible anonymous comments that youtube had.

Hmm, it looks like the last piece to cross over has gone under both of the first coils of hair, rather than between them. Does it still hold well?

What a fun bun! I had to try it out, obviously! ;)
I'm not sure why my camera decided to make one picture true to color and the other like an aged photo from the 70's, but there it is. lol
I added in some flowers to cover my escape artist ends. :) I suppose I could have used a pin or two, but why waste an excuse to add pretties?

Thank you, Sparklylady! My hair had popability when I first started doing this bun. Would a spin pin or similar hold the shorter end for now in a can-I-call-this-a-bubby-helix? Both of the clear sticks are Lady Iduns (Etsy); the one in the tute is an icicle.

No probs, embee! :blossom: I'm forever pausing the vids like a pictorial if I can, just to keep up, but they often run past while I'm still at the beginning bit, gathering hair... As for this particular bun, with all those twists and coils... GAH!

Ta, lapushka! It's amazing how varied all our hair is. Makes for some cool buns at different stages! I've gotta admit the original version of this bun does my head in, but I will try it once I have more length!

I try this bun all the time, and though it looks lovely, I can never quite tuck in the end of my hair the way I want to... My hair is about to my knees now, and I'm wondering if length is the problem. Maybe I just need to watch the video a few times more - that's how I eventually figured out the LWB.

I've redone the pic links an added a bonus pic of it done with my hair a little longer. :) I still make this bun, but it has extra loopage at the top thanks to my length. Thanks for bringing this up--it's one that slipped through my redos when Photophucket stuffed us up.
