2 years at TLHC: pixie to BSL!

I could never have done it without you, TLHC!

My hair has never been this long, or in such good shape! Thank you all for your encouragement and support. I love that I don't have to spend a fortune to have nice hair. I can do my own trims, color (henna) and use bargain basement products. This is fabulous!

Backstory:
My hair changed from red to brown in my 20's, and red haircolor only lasted a week or so. I tried to embrace my new, natural color, but it felt "off". I finally resigned myself to having "bad hair", and kept it pixied. Then, I made the best of it, wearing every style and color I could think of! Hairdresser loved that I was in her chair every 6 weeks wanting something different! Then I discovered henna. Holy smokes! I had shiny, soft, RED hair again! I decided my hair wasn't so bad and I was growing it. I visited Hairdresser one more time, and shared my plan. She gamely trimmed my neck up to my hairline, dusted the ends and sent me on my way.

My 2012 siggy is shortly after that visit, and a henna. I felt like I still needed a haircut. 2014 pic is today.

My hair grows about 1/2" a month. Really.
I don't trim it very often. I've trimmed 3 times, but it didn't affect the overall length much, just freshened up the layers. (FWIW, I would NEVER have cut my own hair before TLHC. Never!)

I'm not fussy about henna. Currently, finishing up a batch of 2011 Jamila from Hennasooq that I got on sale. I do roots-only, 1/4 henna, 3/4 condish, + 1/2 tsp xanthan gum to thicken it up. My henna is almost gone, but I just found out where the Indian store is! ;)

I quit coloring in Jan of 2012 and joined the LHC that summer. I didn't pixie but lost a lot of my length gradually, finally dye free. I am BSL as of measuring today. I think I am close to your length Browneyedsusan!
