I'd love to see everyone's progress ^_^ - Who doesn't love sharing the excitement of others!

I'm getting ready to trim my hair, but I like to take a photo beforehand. My hair naturally grows all crazy, or what we also call 'fairytale ends.' Lol. I personally don't like them on myself, so I try to get as close to a 'blunt cut' as possible. Which requires frequent trimming. Anywho, Here's my progress!

I can't believe how much it's grown!

I've been focused on getting my hair in better shape and looking better.

Here's my first lhc pic from 12/17/13. I think my head was tilted back or something because I don't remember it ever being longer than BSL. I straightened my hair daily, but I felt like my waves looked good enough that day to take a picture.

And here is yesterday, 5/8/14. I cleaned up the ends, did a lot of S&Ding, and a lot of experimenting with a wavy hair routine. And I have about 5 inches of healthy new growth now!

Yepp, it looks like it would be even longer if completely stretched out. I've noticed you are a 3a/b. Do you mind giving me a hint on your straightening routine. I'm a master of the flatiron, but i have a hard time manipulating my texture without it. Do you even use heat or does your hair behave like that after buns/segment ponytails?

@Weewah, your hair improved lovely, looks much healthier in the second picture.

MINAKO,
Oh! Well, I don't use a flat iron but in that photo, I blew out my hair until it was almost dry. I like to keep some moisture. Then I flip my head forward -hairs hanging upside down- and I put it in a tight bun. The bun should be right on top of your head. I leave it like that for the rest of the day and night. When I release my hair, that's how it turns out. Also, if you try this, only use hair sticks. Hair sticks won't leave that awkward dent ^_^ - Oh and I don't do this often. Maybe three times a month. I think that somehow helps with the outcome.

Thanks guys!

I've been meaning to try damp bunning but am scared about it never drying, and don't know which way to bun it to make the best wave pattern, so I'm gonna try your method queenovnight :)

Yay! I hope it works for you! And yeah, I tried doing this with damp hair, and it was still damp when I released it.
This has been the only technique that's worked on my hair.

I just wondered if there was a thread like this, because I've recently noticed that my hair really have changed the last months since fully commiting to the LHC ways (well, some of them ;) )

This was my hair in february, five years frequent dyeing and no scissors for almost a year (yes, my hemline grows in that V-shape when not watched):

And this was my hair today right after a cassia treatment:

Good haircare makes such a difference!

And quuenovnight, such nice hair! I always think of Inara from the TV-series Firefly when I see your sig pic for some reason :)

Thank you for the advice, yours turns out beautifully that way. I'm afrad that mine would still be somewhat poufy but i will give it a try. I hab such a powerful hotair brush by Rusk, but it broke like 3 times and i really struggle with using a roundbrush AND the blowdryer AND get it to look decent.
from past expirience, to me straightening without blowdrying has given me equal result in terms of drying out if not better since im not handling the same piece of hair over and over again. Using a cloud9 iron and damn it is gentle on the hair. Makes it deadstraight tho, which i love, but sometimes a little more volume would be great too. Ah well, we all know where the grass is always greener ;)

MINAKO,
Lucky!! I can't use a flat iron -.- I get the worst split ends! My hair just doesn't like direct heat XD But I probably should have gone into better detail. I don't blow dry my hair when it's wet! I let it naturally "dry" until it's about damp, and then I go over 3-4" sections once or twice (hence how I still retain moisture.) It's poofy afterwards, but the bun is what makes the waves and settles it down. Can't believe I forgot to mention that! - But you have gorgeous hair! I figured it was naturally straight!

frogs,
Looks fabulous! A lot of length!

Beautiful progress pictures. So much inspiration. Queenovnight-i really like your hair. It looks so thick and that hemline looks very nice! Here is my progress over last 9 months. I had a small trim along the way...
Here is when i started taking progress pictures

From the pictures i always think that hair that kind of looks similar to mine, it must be reacting in the same way too. I have too many C hairs in the Top layers to get them to behave with the use of mild heat, so i tend to overdo that and dry them out, yanking up the settings of the dryer all the way up in the end. I agree that moisture is important. I scarfbraid 2 pigtail with damp hair after adding my heatprotectant already and some extra serum at the ends, when its 95% dry its very defined waves that i give to passes in smal sections to get then straight (or the typical flatiron ribbon curl). My hair doesn't split at all, nor do i get any white dots, but every few months my ends would feel rougher then i would like them to, so in the long run i have to chop a bit more, than i would probably have to without the straightening, but it does grow fast and i love the look of it straight. Actually on the first day i get it to look like a natural 1a, but that only lasts so long. The right iron can work wonders, i digged through at least 10 of them, currently using the cloud9 for the main process and the steampod for touchups, thinking about getting my hands on a GlamPalm to try. I love tools, lol.

I started almost two years ago with a chin length Bob and now I am at BSL. I'll do my hairaversary thread here in a few days.
