For years I have dreaded going to the salon for a trim which usually turned into a couple of inches chopped off no matter how hard I tried to explain what a 1/4 inch meant. Finally I purchased some hair cutting scissors from the drugstore and after watching a bunch of tutorials on YouTube I took the plunge.
I started out doing the first layer wet, but quickly realized it was easier to do dry. My ends were pretty scraggly and damaged from old bleaching over a year ago. I took off about one inch in total. I cut my hair with the scissors horizontal to create a blunt edge or hemline. It feels much better and I recommend it for anyone who is growing but has destroyed ends on the last inch or so.
