For years I have dreaded going to the salon for a trim which usually turned into a couple of inches chopped off no matter how hard I tried to explain what a 1/4 inch meant. Finally I purchased some hair cutting scissors from the drugstore and after watching a bunch of tutorials on YouTube I took the plunge.
I started out doing the first layer wet, but quickly realized it was easier to do dry. My ends were pretty scraggly and damaged from old bleaching over a year ago. I took off about one inch in total. I cut my hair with the scissors horizontal to create a blunt edge or hemline. It feels much better and I recommend it for anyone who is growing but has destroyed ends on the last inch or so.
Pictures to come soon!

Congrats on your first self-trim! It's fairly easy once you get over your fear of screwing up and like anything else the more you do it, the better you'll get.

Wait...I didn't mean that to sound like I want you to cut your hair a bunch. No No No.
