This is the thread to post your hairstyles held by Ficcare clips!

Make an updo and give us a challenge! We will then try to do the same style and post our results, as comical as they may be.

Step by step directions appreciated, add pictures too, if it has tricky steps.

Let's try to conquer one hairstyle before posting a new one!

Have fun!

Good idea, but I'm horrible at making tutorials. :( But I will subscribe because I hope to learn something new! Thanks for starting this.

Ok. I'll bite. But pictures have to wait until I'm home in the morning.

The updo is: Inside-out bun (or what I call an inside out bun).

Start to make a standard Cinnabun.
Instead of wrapping the coils around the outside, after the first coil, wrap the rest of the coils under the first coil.
Run out of hair.
Then shove the underneath coils up through the center of the first coil, pushing the "inside" out.
Secure with your favorite Ficcare!

Pictures in the morning.

I like this! I'm game, althought I'll be representing the shorties with a whole 18.75 inches of hair, which means mostly half ups for a few more months. :)

Ok I tried the inside out bun and I was not successful. I'll do one i'm comfortable with and that is a braided nautilus.

http://i.imgur.com/0D8pIfdl.jpg

All I did was I made a single braid and then made a nautilus bun. For those that do not know how to make a nautilus bun, I made a video a long time ago when I had short hair. I uploaded my video not to long ago. My video I think includes the lazy wrap bun which you could do with Ficcares.

I have to confess, 99% of the time I only do "lazy wrap" buns. This thread will be good for forcing me out of my comfort, erm, lazy zone.

After years of henna (I quit when everydaymehndi went out of business!) my henna is finally all grown out. This is my natural hair color and looking at these pictures, I, for the first time, noticed all the little natural high lights..! That's neat..! I am not sure what my color is called. It looks quite dark to me usually.

You threw me, Islandgrrl, at that "pick your *favorite* Ficcare!" No easy task. But I do love the primavera the most. It is size large and maybe you can see the mixture of old and new style gems in there.

I have an idea for you. Divide your hair into two sections, either top and bottom OR side by side and make 2 upside down buns so. Close they touch. The thinner sections will let you get more coils and your bun will look wider/ bigger. The problem might be... do you have 2 small Ficcare? Maybe 2 medium?

Rowie, you've been challenged! ;) don't give up. Mine didn't turn out good the first few times (and I have done this style before!). It helps to make it low and not to tight. As you flip the whole thing up, let the coils shift around a little, guide them gently. I do not flip straight up, bam, and put the Ficcare in. I am not sure how to explain it, but the whole bun will shift around a bit as you flip it and I adjust with my fingers until it feels right, poking with thumbs and fingers kinda like what you did in that video! Sorry, none of that made sense, right? Pffffft. Maybe someone knows of a video.

Ha ha if I can ever get to your length then I'll push out of my comfort zone. As of right now my hair just reached hip length and for me the only thing I can do is a nautilus or lazy wrap more comfortably. It's not that I'm lazy to try to explore very complicated updos which I don't know if this is the goal of this thread, it's just that I feel like I don't have enough hair to even mimic the updo you presented. Even at hip length my hair still feels super short! Plus just I reached this new milestone in my hair journey I'm having to re learn how I do my buns CimmaronSun, not to mention the nightmare I'm now facing with learning to accept how much I notice my hair sheds even more at this length.

Ok, maybe I'm feeling a bit smug because - I DID it! I've got to thank CimmaronSun for starting this thread and Islandgrrl for inspiring it. Because I'm actually wearing this d@mn ficcare today. And it's NOT hurting me. And that's a first!

As for picking my favourite ficcare, it's easy. This is my *only* ficcare.

Hip length is a wonderful length! Last December my hair was down to my knees with a blunt hemline. You would think I would be happy but I HATED it. It was too heavy, too much length to wrap around and around... and aaaaaroooooouuund... the ends would braid themselves as I was braiding the top, I couldn't REACH the ends then, to detangle them..! Grr! So I cut it back to tailbone length which is long yet practical. Already it is back to classic. I really do not desire for it to get longer than classic, mid thigh is doable but not as fun.

Hip length is plenty long for an inside out bun. And yes ;) that *IS* the point of this thread, conquer new styles, Ficcare held, and share how they all look different actually, for each person.

For a super challenge we could just post a pic with no bun-name or directions and people try to replicate it. Supa challenge.

Ok, mine doesn't look anything like you two, mostly I think because mine is so fine and thin you really can't see the loops. And it's shorter (waist) so I don't HAVE as many loops either! But I promise it's an inside-out bun! (at least I did what Izzie said, so it should be!). It looks more like a cinnabun because a lot of the nice "loopage" is covered up by my Ficcare. And it's my LEAST favorite one I own - but I'm doing the 'wear all your hairtoys" challenge and i was already wearing it today, so oh well.

Inside out bun:

http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv18/raggsj38/hair%20photos/Hairtoy%20challenge/016500x375-2.jpg (http://s665.photobucket.com/user/raggsj38/media/hair%20photos/Hairtoy%20challenge/016500x375-2.jpg.html)

Cinnabun I took a pic of first for the hairtoy challenge thread, so you can see the difference:

http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv18/raggsj38/hair%20photos/Hairtoy%20challenge/003500x375-5.jpg (http://s665.photobucket.com/user/raggsj38/media/hair%20photos/Hairtoy%20challenge/003500x375-5.jpg.html)

Does it look like I did it right? I did like Izzie said, and then tried to "arrange" the loops. Unfortunately I only had one and a half underneath loops to work with, so I couldn't do a lot!

tried Rags- that looks good! I think I did the wrong bun, actually, now I am looking at your pic and Stellas and re reading directions. I did what could be a Flipped Bun, make a bun,

flip it upside down. But it isn't an insideOUT bun.

Whoops! That nodoubt added to your confusion, Rowie! So sorry! I think yours is looking good, too!

<off to try an inside OUT bun>

Can't wait to see Islandgrrl's bun!

Whoa, yeah, I was doing the wrong bun. I have never even heard of an inside outbun before and got mixed up. I apologize. !

So when I tried pushing the inside coils out of the first, or inner, coil I got something that looked like a bunny tail! :O. Not sure this is right either! But it is cute:

Thank you! I sometimes think I should have gotten the darker Tokyo, but isn't that just the way people are, always wanting what you don't have ...
I notice that your trees actually have *leaves*. Green ones! It'll be weeks here. This spring is so late I don't think we'll have a full complement of leaves until mid-June (not exaggerating).

Thanks, Dulce!

I totally agree. I need one more. An opal lotus. Really don't want any others. Certainly not at over $50. An over-$50-hairtoy has to prettier than a TT in Stellaaa's Hairtoy Rule Book. And that's a HIGH bar.

And a ficci, yes! Although it will annoy me if it doesn't stay horizontal, but with all the mad skillz I'm picking up on this thread, no worries! Does onyx come in a ficci?

Problem with ficcis is I'm not ordering anything off the ficcare web site ever, because of the shipping prices to Canada. And they are kind of scarce elsewhere. And the swapboard is kind of out because nobody wants to sell any ficcares, only trade. And I have no trades, obviously. So I may never have a ficci. What can ya do?

Sweet offer, thank you. I think I will be taking you up on that too, but probably not until my birthday (July).

Now, back to developing mad skillz. I have to confess, the ficcare is back in it's resting place and I'm wearing my purple acrylic fork again. It started to slide down and pull a few hairs, and I adjusted it and it got worse. But it's a start. And that bun looked a lot nicer on me than the usual lazy-wrap too.

~Ready for Challenge #2?~

Okay, this IS the Flipped Bun.

Make a bun looooow, near your neck. Don't make it too tight, just a simple cinnamon bun. The last coil you can make a bit tighter and don't tuck in the ends, let them stick upwards. Now, take the entire bun and FLIP it UP. It should be up higher and now concealing those "loose ends". Secure with Ficcare. If you can still see the ends push them under.

I confess, this doesn't look exactly the same everytime I do it! Here, it looks a lot like a french twist with a bun on top (sounds like a yummy dessert!) How tight you wrap and if you let the bun rotate as you flip it changes the shape. Experiment and find what you like! It is super comfortable and quick... and elegant, I think.

Wooow! Those all look so good!

Rags, yours sounds pretty! You can change the look by how much you let the bun rotate it as you flip up. I twist to the left when making my buns, so for the flipped bun I let it rotate to the left as I am bringing it up. It naturally wants to go this way and you can feel it; just gently guide and keep it centered.

Sorry if that didn't make sense... I am sick and have a headache. Whew.

Oh rags! I think it looks REALLY good! *especially* with the grey Ficcare. If I saw you out in public I would most certainly stop you and talk hair and Ficcare.
My flipped buns look just a bit different each time, too. I think they feel good because it gives the Ficcare a new place to anchor (my buns are usually lower). I think it looks nice from the front as well, maybe because it is a subtle upwards sweep of the hair around the face.

The flipped bun was ... a fail. Of course, I've never mastered the cinnabun so variations are bound to have issues. It kind of oozed out and spilled its guts all over my head. As dumb as it looks from the back, it looks twice as goofy from the front.

I don't like this bun with my hair and the ficcare (although it looks great on Rowie), because the jaws are open so wide you can see a lot a lot of the metal and the beak sticks out over the edge of my nautiloid bump. And it pulls. Prefer a flexi with this one, or a TT stick :)

I *barely* had enough length to try the nautilus using the instructions from rowie's video. This is my first nautilus using all my hair, I usually do a half-up then twist the bottom half around it and secure. :p There is a 0% chance I could do a braided nautilus, probably not for awhile.

Hmmm... I like this bun, but this one might be better with just a simple stick. I feel like the Ficcare is "too much" somehow. It hides the prettiest part of the bun.

Just a simple stick:

This is such a great idea for a thread, thank you Cimarronsun! I'm finding that a lot of styles that haven't worked for me with other hair toys are totally possible with a Ficcare. I could never do a flipped cinnamon bun before, but with a Ficcare it's so comfy it's one of my go-to styles now. It shouldn't surprise me that the nautilus bun would turn out the same way... I could never get a nautilus to stay or look good before, but I tried rowie's braided nautilus and it's held comfortably all day:

Ok, this is the first nautilus I've attempted in months. My hair is just barely able to do it. I agree, I like this bun better with a hair stick. The ficcare seems to hide the pretty bun:

The lazywrap bun is my go-to. But now that I've gained more length I need a large ficcare for it to be comfy.

I did a lazy wrap Rowie's way (I usually do mine the other way), and I can't say I like it, especially with a Ficcare. Probably because my hair is so fine and just compacts up, I end up with just a round ball of hair on my head! Unless I did it wrong? (But I really don't see how you can!). I had to go down to a small for this, as the medium just covered it up. :p

I like it, rags! I did the lazy wrap braided, held with Ficcare. It was so comfy! Okay, so it isn't the prettiest out there, but if you're just out and busy doing stuff it is great. Good hold, comfort. The Ficcare fit over my bun much better too. The nautilus bun was thicker... or sumpin'. :P

rags
May 7th, 2014, 06:26 PM
The way I do the lazy wrap spreads it out a bit more, so it's more comfy for me. But there's no doubt this one holds! (And hey, with a small I look like I have a bigger bun! :p ). I'm going to remember this one for my smalls.

ETA: I actually like the way it looks - but the bun protrudes farther from my head than I'm used to with my puny hair!

Stellaaa
May 8th, 2014, 11:10 AM
rags, that looks super. I love the look of the smaller ficcare (so much so that I wonder if I could make one work for me). I know what you mean about the protruding, back when I used to be able to do a lazy-wrap I found it protruded peculiarly too.

I lost my lazy-wrap ability (is there a  emoticon here?). I only learned to do these buns after I joined this forum in 2012, and in 2013 I got such an attack of arthritis that I just couldn't get my arms to move like that. (I also temporarily lost the ability to do hair-toy selfies). I'm much better now - but I just can't *remember* how to move my left arm behind my back. I watched the video over and over and tried and tried, and finally managed something that looks like a lazy-wrap, although I suspect it is an upside down and backwards Nautilus :)

If you've got too much hair (not my problem, for sure) why not try sectioning?

For example: do the nautilus with the top 2/3 of your hair. That bottom 1/3? Split in half, then wrap each section around the base of bun, left section under the bun and counter clockwise, and right section under the bun and clockwise.

Another option is to braid that bottom 1/3 and instead go round the outside of your bun for a braided border accent. You might add a couple of Amish pins for that part.

Medium long - I love tutorials by people with streaky blonde hair because you can see every turn so well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GabtAycbRKs

Here's a variation for "shorter" hair (*only* hip length) and it's crazy thick, but it might help you rags: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-QnYGuzfz4

You see my problem with ficcares right here. I put the clip in horizontal, and it's already pulling itself down under its own weight, pulling my hair with it. Ouch!

And here is the log roll in my 60 cent "fakkare". Is it bad that I like this one so much better that I'm still wearing it?

Not because it looks good, it looks like the cheap piece of plastic that it is. I like it because it weighs almost nothing, and the bottom is in a huge 4-pronged arrangement that distributes weight very well. I wish I'd bought a half a dozen of them.

I am still wearing the log roll (it needs a prettier name!). I like it! And it totally works with a Ficcare. I have been doing the Nautilus all week, actually- but with a Flexi! So I am loving this new Ficcare updo- and a way to wear some of my Mediums too, that is great!

I didn't mean to insert the Ficcare under a portion of hair. It looks okay, maybe even cute, so I left it.

Youtube sure makes updos easier than trying to follow a series of photos or instructions. I think Lady Godiva. (The LHCer one that is!) invented this updo waaaaay way back but I never knew how to recreate it.

Oh look, see the sparklies?! Looks like my bun ate a Ficcare :p. It's in there somewhere, I promise. It holds very well and I could probably get an innovation to work as well. Stellaaa, try doing yours again and placing the clip a little higher up. I am wondering if that would help. That black clip does look comfortable- I see how wide the bottom piece is! Ficcare should make something like that. Maybe 2 thinner prongs instead of one wide bottom piece? Have to think about weight. Ah, maybe it would be too heavy anyways. Definitely a nice clip you found! Hope it holds up for you. :)

I've heard that the enamel clips are lighter, guess one of these days I'm going to have to pull my finger out and get myself one.

By the end of the day my scalp was hurting a bit from the weight. (I am just loving on the Nautilus bun, no pulling and doesn't fall down... love.) It sure is a pretty updo though. A good one for when you want to look polished.

Stellaaa, I thought the enamel clips were heavier than the acetate? I haven't weighed mine, but my acetates feel lighter. Hmm. I did this one log roll with a medium maximas- that probably helped. Your plastic clip is likely the ideal clip for this style! I am wondering which video (if any) you watched/ used for your log roll. On number 3 she started wrapping the hair around VERY high up, right under the loop. The other 2 videos they seemed to wrap lower down. Just thinking (typing?!) "Outloud", wondering what techniques lessen pulling.

I tried to redo mine without watching the video and it went ALL wrong. Heh heh.

I didn't use any particular video, I watched a bunch of them but once my left hand is behind my head it's all guess work. I thought I started low and wound up, but looking at the photo I can see my coils get smaller downward (due to my taper) so I must have started higher and wound down.

So far, for comfort in a ficcare I'm liking the inside-out bun. Nautilus is ok, but so much better in a stick or flexi that'd I go for those instead.

I went with video 1. I think once I gain a little more length it will look a little more polished. It feels comfy with my medium ficcare. I'm not keen on the sloppy look so I reverted back to my flipped bun with this clip.

Sourgrl, your hair color is beautiful and so elegant with that Ficcare color too! Very nice.

Can you do a REAL French Twist? I am excited about the log roll because I personally cannot stuff all my hair into a real french twist. But I have seen people with more hair than me do it! I just do not have the updo skillz!

Well it was a good choice! Since it goes so well with your hair it probably also goes good with most clothing. It is a very interesting pattern.

I had to say, your Flexi looks GREAT in your avatar. Between Flexis and Ficcares my poor hairstick collection is feeling quite left out! Need a hairstick challenge thread, LOL. Sometimes I overhear my Flexis and Ficcares singing "anything you can do, I can do better!" "No, you can't!" "Yes I can!" I am thinking of putting them into the ULTIMATE updo challenge and settle this little dispute once and for all. LOL

LOL! Yeah, we all win by being challenged out of our comfort zone of go-to hairstyle ruts! I am so incredibly grateful to all of you who've participated, encouraged and recommended styles and tutorials! It has been great and I have learned some fantastic updos I never would have known to try otherwise.

I definitely do not want it to be a contest though. I am a FIRM believer in loving your OWN hair type. I appreciate all the different colors and textures and the uniqueness of each photo contributed. Some styles will work better for one type or length, no doubt, but it is still fun to try.

But sometimes oily hair is easier to put into updos!

Or if your hair is slipping or sneaking out of the updo misting with a bit of water can help too.

There's an idea, everyone can post helpful hints for doing these updos. :) whenever you come across something helpful.

thanks Duchess67, yeah, this was after I oiled my hair and then decided to give it another go. If I manipulate my hair enough, especially damp, I can get the bulk of it to be relatively smooth. The ends however, rebel, which is why the edges are all ruffly.

Okay THIS is beautiful! This is the updo for dressier Ficcares, for sure- and that sparkly looks right at home. I think this style is perfect for this clip and the black and gold lotus. Yes, yes! My Ficcares are in 2 "ranges" casual (browns) or "fun" (opal, pink,amethyst... bright). I am not sure I HAVE an "elegant" Ficcare (although ANY Ficcare is lightyears past a cheap plastic claw clip...) onyx? Maybe... nah. Perhaps I need a strikingly pretty black Ficcare. I will keep that in mind whenever they release the Lotus line. <waiting>

I cannot get a logroll to work for me either today. The ends keep falling out. I am probably doing it wrong because I trued to put it up without a video.

Awww, thank you so much. I agree that some clips lend themselves to elegance a but better than others, but I think the combination of style and clip probably has something to do with it, too. I'm confident that you can rock pretty much any Ficcare and give it an air of elegance!

What's the next style in the challenge?

I can get it to hold for a reasonable amount of time with one clip placed perfectly. We know how often that's going to happen. I have to experiment with the log roll and a vertically placed Innovation.

The equilibrium bun is supposed to be an excellent bun if you have taper. I guess that's the point. It works for me mostly because it's a good way to eat up the length and it makes a nice fat bun.

Sad that your bun exploded later, Izzie. It would have been nice had you found one you could do with just the one clip.

I haven't tried the equilibrium bun yet, but if I make it around it will be just barely! Waist length is a tad short, but hopefully m thinness will help. :p

:snip: Hey! I did it! I think that it looks really elegant. I did mine up high.

I told DH "I participated in a hairstyle challenge."

He says, "Did you win?"

I laughed. I guess I win if I mastered the style, which I feel that I did.

I just had the exact same conversation with DH. Must be a guy thing, Challenge = Competition.

Although, I gotta admit, if mastering the new hairstyle is winning I just lost this challenge

So I tried it just like the video, inserting the ficcare at 11 o'clock pointing towards 5, like she does with the ketylo. It immediately rotated to vertical, which looks super goofy but I got a photo anyway.

This bun bring out the worst in my hair, namely the ends are there on display after being twined with the length. And my arm's too short. I swear it's too short. That's my story and I sticking to it.

Anyway, I coiled the coil a little tighter and spun it a bit more around my head so I could insert the ficcare at 2 o'clock and aim at 7. It still looks bad, but not goofy.

I figured I better get this done today as it is supposed to rain for the rest of the week.

My results were like Stellaaa's: GOOFY. My ends stuck out everywhere. I tried several times and everytime it looked bizarre. I don't want to post a picture. LOL. It is however very comfortable. I am still wearing my last attempt, the strangest looking of all. Was washing the car and stuff so who cares what I look like. It is UP and super secure so hey. Good working out in the yard style.

I don't know. That's the shape it always makes for me. I do the twist, then wind it like a cinnamon bun, but I take the end and sort of shove it underneath so it comes out the center of the Cinnabun part.

Wow, if that wasn't totally confusing......

No, that would explain it. I haven't enough hair to do that, so that's why mine looks different. I haven't enough hair to get a full cinnamon bun with my hair freshly washed today! (It's sproinging out all over the place!). I think I'll have better luck in a day or two.

Thank you. Luckily my teenaged son got up from bed for a drink and could snap the picture for me. I didn't think I would have enough hair length but it seems that I do (ii thickness factor helps too). That was the second try and loosely wound as the length is not dry fully.

I think I found the answer to your question: what is the difference between lwb and nautilus?
LWB gets wrapped around your hand, then length gets wound around.
Nautilus gets wrapped around your hand THEN the nand rotates (making a loop of hair out to the side) and the length is wrapped around.

Anyways, the nautilus just has that 1 extra step.

Does this sound right? You asked what the difference was at least twice and I've been, "hmmmmm...." :ponder:

so my hair is heavily oiled right now, which means it will lay more smoothly and compact a bit more without getting horribly tangled. I tried the log roll, looks almost like a sock bun on me (well it did until I smooshed it around a bit re-inserting the ficcare) also, don't mind my hoodie, it's cold and rainy here today:

https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/t1.0-9/q71/s720x720/10394823_1424432967821171_8297076813840372108_n.jp g

I did the french slide from hypnotica's video, but it's sooo compact-y that the roll bit flattened completely. I like it nonetheless and will add this to my repertoire, at least for days when I don't care about crushing my curls :)

Second attempt was a little looser and just would NOT stay up. I know ficcares are well made and all, but they neglected to include an anti-gravity device, at least on the acetates

But the third try was really lucky! I did it!! Yay!! It's still up there 10 minutes later!!! No anti-gravity devices involved!

So I tried and I tried. And then I tried the inside out bun and the nautilus and a cinnablob. Nada. So I'm wearing a stick that doesn't look nearly as good as the ficcare would. And I am unworthy of your paises up thread! Big. Fat. Fail.

I am Ficcare Challenged!

If it were possible to edit, I would edit to add:

The day I did that 'do in the pictures I had been working outside in the hot sun all afternoon with a hat on, and my hair was absolutely soaked with sweat and sticky and icky. Unfortunately, I washed it last night, being no longer able to tolerate icky and sticky. Literally - "I just washed my hair and I can't do a thing with it."

Love it Rags! And your silver streaks make it magical. :D
Ok, I got this one, though it doesn't look like Stella's or either video. But I promise it's this bun! I think I made my loop too big, but it held like a rock. I like this one. I think I'll use it for French twists. It holds better for me with a Ficcare than a regular French twist.

I have a suggestion for this week - if nobody else has a really good idea.

The only problem is - it is impossible for me to do it properly.

My suggestion is Islandgrrl Style. Any bun you want, as long as you use two or more ficcares to secure it!

What do you all think? Double your pleasure, double your fun and we all get to see twice as many clips as we would otherwise! (I think I'm the only person participating in this thread who owns only one lone ficcare, but I'll just use a beak clip instead.)

Good idea! Agreed from someone who is bun challenged! A knotted bun and lazywrap is all I can do.Maximas ,innovations and ficcarrisssimos could be included? They are Ficcares also.French twist and pony variations too? If the choices were more open ,I think more would participate?I know I would..

Okay, okay, this first one was like a Islandgrl "how many Ficcare can I stick in here...?" I got in a centerheld small pink silky, wrapped the length around, added a red primavera and Galactic both in medium and a large opal.

But those colors didn't look good together AT ALL.

Soooo... how about a log roll with 3 blue shades? Large opal flanked by 2 mediums.

Love that second bun I can see why you're still wearing it. And nice show of ficcares in the first, but you're right, the colours together  (just kidding, looks great) Maybe we need a "wear all your ficcares at once" challenge.

Since I only have one ficcare I stuck a beak clip in this Nautilus bun. But to make it more Islandgrrl style I *am* standing on one leg and I'm sure it is sunrise, somewhere.

Great size comparison photo - much better than just seeing them clipped to towel or on a display rack. I think I should have gotten medium

Your dog retrieves dropped hair toys?! That is adorable! :cloud9:

Stella, if you do go for another Ficcare, try to get an enamel one. Yesterdays updo sadly taught me that the acetates are NOT as comfortable. :( they sure are pretty... I just wish the bottoms weren't so concave. And the spring is stronger on the enamel.

I will try to do a size comparison
For the enamels then.

That lil' Paca sniffs and sniffs at Ficcares. I know its not my hair he is sniffing because he puts his nose right ON the clip. Love.

The same can be done with fakkares, usually. At least with karinas and vidal sassoons

LOL! Yes, you're right. It worked! For some reason I thought the metal would highly resist being bent and you were going to say I needed a vice and some pliers... maybe heat and a welding shield. But yup, I just bent it with my fingers.

Thank you! Okay, well that was easy (still can't get over it, heh heh). Can't wait to wear them a while and see if it makes a difference.

Stellaaa, if you can get away with a medium, I most certainly can. My hair is fine and thin, only 29 inches long. Last night when I ordered Ficcares, I selected all of them in Large which was a big mistake.

My instinct said I should change it to medium. So early this morning I spent a lot of time reading and seeing pictures here, made me realize medium would look better than large. As soon as I realized that emailed French Twist. Samantha, the manager contacted me and was kind enough to change all my order to medium. Their customer service is excellent.

Awww... too bad it didn't make it more comfortable, Stellaaa. :( it is a subtle poking/ proding for me. I can deal with it but after putting 3 acetates on my head at once, and then 3 enamels... well, the difference in comfort levels was noticable. :\

So the medium was easy to bend so next I tried a large... MUCH harder! I squeezed with all my might and then it bent crooked! I was afraid I broke the metal, but its okay, just crooked. It is because the spring is off to the side. I have to squeeze so hard I was afraid I the enamel was going to break.

Gosh, Stellaaa, your hair is 40 inches long! I would think large is right. But it depends on the style- for that log roll medium was actually more comfortable to me. Sooo... the 2 smalls I show in the picture are actually my daughters'. But I CAN wear them too! It all just depends on the updo so its nice to have a size choice.

How I take selfies is hold 1 arm out, look at the camera, make sure it is pointed at my face and then turn my head without moving the camera. And usually it turns out good. I had a hard time getting a good pic of the triple ficcare do though.
