I asked in July of last year about hair growing advice (way back here: http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=113508). I'm proud to say I've not touched a pair of scissors since then, with some interesting results. I'm back now to ask some opinions and maybe get some advice on styles, if that's alright.

The eight months were also without shampoo, just regular rinsing after exercise, brushing in the shower to get rid of shed hair, and a little jojoba oil when I come out (I've been reading my curly threads). Would any other oils work better? I've also been careful with my diet, making sure I get plenty of consumable oils and staying hydrated, but I still get frizz and vertical hair.

Unfortunately my hair can still get a little wirey, and I'm still unsure about whether I've got the proportions right from front to back. I'm also convinced that the last time it was cut it was left a little heavier on my left side, especially over the ear. What do you think? I'm considering trimming back the sides and maybe the bottom/back just a little and letting the top grow out more. I'm also surprised it's come out a little bit lighter than I was expecting. As a result I've had some more styles come to mind, Eric Bana in Troy seems to be a favourite around these parts. Opinions for what I should do with it are welcome.

(Apologies for the mirror poses, these are just my own lazy progress pictures.)

I think your hair is looking great! Keep up the good work. I don't see it looking any different on the left side. I don't think you need a trim but that's just me :)

Thank you! That's really kind. I'll be lurking these forums more trying to pick up tips on how to make it a bit less crazy looking (like the top image). For now I'll leave the scissors until further notice.

I think it looks very nice. To help with frizz you can try other oils. My hair hates jojoba but it likes sweet almond oil or something close to that. I also found a oil mix at the health food store that is seeming to do wonders for my hair. So I would experiment with other oils. Your hair looks really great!

Omg, you have John Mitchell/Aidan Turner hair! You even look a bit like him, amazing :) I don't have any real advice as I don't know much about dark curly hair, but you must be doing it right because your hair looks amazing. Congrats on your progress!
