BWAHAHAHAHA I tried a crown braid again.. Dutch version this time, failed miserably..

However I turned the thing around into something nice anyway, starting out with a lopsided Dutch braid turned into on long one at the end

Then I didn't like the transition between lopsided and regular braid so.. made a bun!

Just have to pay attention when I do this again that I make it go down instead of up around the ears. Of course when I was doing the braiding I did not yet have this bun in mind hahahaha.

Lovely improvisation! By the way, your crown braid is wayyyy better than the ones I've attempted over the past year or two. Seriously horrible.

The two stranded one is WAYYYY easier than this three strand one, I managed to do that one relatively properly :) Maybe you want to give that one a whirl, who knows!

Crown braids take so much practice. I've been trying to do them for going on 4 years now, and they still don't turn out that great.

I will say what helped me was 1) trying the Dutch lace braid version (where you only add hair from the outside edge), and also doing lots of accent braids that started above one ear, went across the front edge of my head, and down around past the other ear. That way I got lots of practice for the first half of a crown braid, with things like keeping it close to the edge of my head, etc.

Yeah that is pretty much the stage I am at. I really like how this one turned out, hopefully a second attempt will make this turn out even better. NOT the crown braid mind you.. just that braid along the head turned braid regular turned bun. For work this is way cool :)

That looks so pretty! Yeah, my crown braids are still really wonky too :(

This is very pretty and a great little hairdo accident :-) I am looking forward to adding it to my protective 'do library.

And let me assure you-none of my failed attempts at the crown braid turned into cool other styles lol.

Thank you all!

been trying it a few times today, succeeded and failed a few times. I have less lower than ear hairs so I have to make sure not to pull things up but down and not make too many parts there. Trial and error but I will get it for sure! :D

Try it in any case, it is way cool to see :)
