Hair socks, are they safe?

I just saw this (http://www.refinery29.com/overnight-hair-tips?crlt.pid=camp.uNutuS6qlzcz) video, and it looks like a super easy way to get wavy hair in the morning. I've never used one of those hair sock thingies before though, so how gentle are they on hair?

Should be totally safe! As long as you're gentle with your hair it should be fine - actually, his method seems less damaging than the traditional rolled sock bun for no heat curls.
